"K-Kageyama?"
Hinata had gone to help clean up the gym with the others when Kageyama grabbed his hand.
"Oh. Sorry." The dark haired boy let go of Hinata and looked away.
"No, its fine. Did you need something?" Hinata questioned.
"No nothing in particular. It was just. Reflex." Kageyama began zipping his bag then walking out of the gym in a desperate attempt to escape the conversation.
This time, Hinata was the one to grab his wrist.
"Kageyamaaa. Stop being so recitent." Hinata pulled Kageyama outside. "Tell me what's wrong."
"I said it's nothing. I don't need you worrying, so drop it. If I said it's nothing, then it's nothing," he quickly replied.
Kageyama attempted shaking his hand free, but that only caused Hinata to tighten his grip.
"I'm not letting go until you spill." Hinata deepened his expression and made it more serious. "I'm not kidding Kags tell me."
Kageyama's eyes widened a little and a light red dusted his cheeks at the nickname given to him without his consent.
"I-Its nothing I swear..." he mumbled while looking away.
The shorter male sighed and let out a breath, letting Kageyama be free. "Fine then don't tell me. I'm gonna go get my stuff and we can start heading home. Wait her for me."
Kageyama nodded slightly, looking down at the grey concrete in thought.
~Hinatas pov~
I looked over my shoulder while walking back towards the gym and saw Kageyama looking down. It was such a depressing sight; it made my heart clench in a hopeless need to cheer him up.
I quickly grabbed my stuff off the bench and jogged outside, to find Kageyama in his same state.
I sighed. Looks like I've got some cheering up to do.
I continued walking and pat Kageyama's back lightly, indicating him that it was time to start walking home.
We walked in silence most of the way, the sound of leaves blowing in the slight breeze replacing our voices.
I stole many glances on the way to check on Kageyama's state. He seemed as refined as ever. His face had a calm look, his eyes were gentle, and his lips were soft.
Damn.
I keep thinking of him in ways that aren't just friends and its been very troubling. He hasn't said a word about my confession and I haven't pushed him to. This basically meant he didn't want to be with me.
I sighed. Times are tough.
I decided I would try to talk to him, the quiet began to creep into an unsettling noiselessness.
~3rd person~
"Hey Kageyama-"
"Hey Hinata-"The two males were interrupted by each other's sudden attempt to talk, and returned to silence again.
"Ehehe..." Hinata gave a weak, sarcastic laugh at the mistake. "Y-You can go first Kageyama."
"No please you go."
"No it's fine you can."
"No it would be better if you did."They went on like this for a few moments before stopping and staring at each other. Both sighed at the attempt to make the other speak first.
"Listen Hinata, I..." The taller male started. He squeezed his eyes shut and rubbed his face gently with his hands.
"Ok just. Follow me." Kageyama grabbed Hinata's arm and pulled him along the sidewalk, seeming to head towards his house anyways.
"Hey Kageyama I can walk on my own if we're just going to your house.." Hinata began, but his voice faded off when he saw Kageyama's expression. He was determined and focused.
After about five more minutes and many turns that definitely didn't lead to Kageyama's house, the dark eyed male led the messy haired boy into a park.
It was filled with a sense of tranquility; there were birds chirping and you could hear the negligible tumult of buzzing bees in the trees. When the wind blew, blossoms buoantly suspended to the ground. It was overall breathtaking.
Kageyama dragged Hinata over to a bench and sat him and himself down. The park was completely vacant of people, so Kageyama knew this would be a good place to talk
"Ok. Hinata I just wanted to let you know that I. Really..." His words drifted off like a feather in the wind. Quiet and gentle.
He stared at Hinata directly in the eyes and his expression softened. Just a glance at the energetic ball of messy orange hair made his stress disappear.
Without thinking, Kageyama gently lifted Hinata's chin and leaned closer to the small boy.
"K-Kageyama what are you d-doing?" a flustered Hinata questioned. His face was red with heat.
Kageyama just leaned in completely and gently touched Hinata's lips with his own. It was barely a kiss, more like a free sample that you get from the stores.
He pulled away slowly and looked at Hinata with s gentle, affectionate face. "I-I love you, Shoyo..."
His eyes drifted to his feet, trying to hide his blushing face. Hinata sat there in shock, but then he began to smile.
"KAGEYAMA! YOU SHOULD'VE SAIF SO EARLIER!" He jumped on Kageyama and wrapped his arms around Kageyama's neck.
In the end, it was a great day for both of them.
