Chapter 1 - The Ride of Doom

(L/ Kim Myung Soo as Nirajan)

"Look at my country below us Armesh! Isn't she beautiful?" Crown Prince Nirajan exclaimed as he glanced out of the helicopter windows.

"Yeah, your country is beautiful. And look at the skies! They are a sight to behold!" even while he was busy piloting the helicopter Armesh couldn't but be awestruck by the view before them.

Nirajan paused his sight seeing for a moment to look at the ease and confidence with which his friend handled the controls. "You have actually mastered how to pilot a plane..."

"You actually boarded on the copter not being sure?" Armesh snorted.

"Of course I had my doubts," Nirajan grinned. "Well, you sacrificed a lot of this. I am glad to see it is not in vain."

"Lot is an understatement," Armesh said sombrely. His family had been livid to find out that he ran away from the university to become a pilot. His father went to the extent of raising his hand to hit him. His mother, grand mother and the eldest brother were still not talking to him. "But it was worth it..."

"I wish your family would just allow you to be a pilot," Nirajan shrugged.

"As if it were that easy! How do you think your father would react if you said you don't want the crown?"

"What kind of a twisted comparison is that?" Nirajan groaned.

Armesh chuckled.

"Anyways man, I promised you before I went that I will give you a ride when I come back. Now it's done."

"And I helped you smuggle a plane from the royal air force. My father is going to kill us when he finds out," Nirajan made a cheerful remark.

"Chillax and live a bit bro!" Armesh was carefree as usual.

"You do realise that we won't be in the same batch anymore, eh? Since you never faced the exams you have to start from the first year again."

"So? Blame yourself for passing the first year."

"Pfft! Yeah right! What kind of twisted logic is that?"

"It's called Armesh logic man," Armesh gave his trademark pixie grin.

Nirajan laughed loudly. "This nutcase!" he shook his head. "But it might not be such a bad idea after all. Living goddess of the city is going to attend university this year. She is going to step out of her abode after a decade I think. She'll be in your class."

"Wait. I thought your living goddesses were little girls. How could there be someone university age?" Armesh frowned.

"Yeah, she is a bit of an unusual case," Nirajan agreed. "Usually the goddesses become mortal when they menstruate for the first time. The goddess is believed to leave her body at that moment and the search for a new living goddess begins. However goddess Neha never had her period, so she still remains a goddess. She the oldest living goddess in the history so."

"Wow, is she fooling you guys or something?" Armesh wondered nonchalantly.

"Nah, no way. The temple is highly alert. The goddess have no life of her own basically. It must be hard for her, being a goddess and having the entire country knowing why she still remains a goddess," Nirajan was more sympathetic.

"Now don't be too sure. She may have gotten too used to being spoilt like a princess."

"Hah, don't let my brother hear that. He had something for her since long. I think he might have married her had she become mortal..."
