Chapter 2 - That is not Her
(Song Joong Ki as Vimash)
Armesh opened his eyes with a groan to find himself in an unfamiliar background. And the first thing he felt, even before he gathered his bearings, was the sting on his cheek as somebody slapped his cheek.
"AWWW!" Armesh yelped, sounding rather like a thirsty frog.
Nirajan peeped into his face. "I did promise to kill you if you come back alive. You should thank me for going that easy on you."
Armesh blinked a several times before he recalled what happened in full. "Oh you are alive! And so am I!" he said in a weak tone.
"Yeah. Well done," crown prince gave a small smile.
"What happened? After you jumped I mean," Nirajan knew was his friend was asking.
"I landed safe. I was hardly bruised," he assured. "Everything was perfect other than the fact that I landed in the middle of a crowded street."
"Oh shit man, your father is going to kill you," Armesh mumbled.
He nearly had a stroke when the king's voice spoke up in a cold voice. "Not only him but you too, you brat."
Armesh turned his head to see Nirajan's father near the window of the room they were in. "You should thank your stars that you were unconscious till the worst of my anger has passed. Otherwise I might have killed you with my bare hands! Even now I can't bear the sight of you, which is why I was looking out the window!"
The disgust in the king's voice cut deep into Armesh. As if his family despising him was not enough...
"I am sorry," the words were meaningless, but he still had to say them. The words sounded miserable and hollow.
"I allowed my son to stay here until you woke up. But this is the last time you shall speak to my son. Nirajan, hurry up," the king stormed off.
Nirajan looked at his friend sadly. "I am sorry man."
"Its okay... at least you are safe," Armesh sighed. "Maybe its best that you keep your distance from me, I am a bit of a bad influence after all."
"Yeah right, a bit of a bad influence," Nirajan chortled, making Armesh grin as well.
"For how long was I out?"
"Three days. And I was scolding my father for not taking you to the hospital!"
"Eh, this is not hospital! Where is this?" Armesh looked at the strange room curiously.
"An outer building of the temple of the living goddess," Nirajan said sombrely. "You hit on the roof of the temple of the goddess."
"Damn!" Armesh groaned. "We were speaking of her right before we crashed also. Is she bad luck or something?"
"Are you nuts? Catching a glimpse of her is also considered a blessing! People come from far away just to see her and worship her!"
"Right..." Armesh said in a bored tone. Even though they were best friends, he still couldn't come into terms with this aspect of the crown prince. Maybe he never will.
A royal guard peeped through the door as this moment. He bowed respectfully to the prince. There was no need for him to speak, both the boys knew why he came.
"So this is goodbye I guess?"
"Yeah. Till I persuade my father... or till the day I become the king," Nirajan smirked.
"Good luck with that," Armesh rolled his eyes.
Nirajan stuck his tongue out at him. "See you at campus, Armesh. Get well soon."
