Dean and Castiel jumped in their seats, startled from the sudden noise. Dean's immediate reaction was to pull his gun out and point it at the source of the noise as he stood. He made sure his wings were invisible. Castiel stood as well and whipped out his angel blade.
Four figures wearing hoods rushed into the room, and when Castiel caught sight of them he sighed and put his angel blade away. He first noticed Siel holding his crossbow and aiming it towards Dean. Asuka, Nala, and Taeo all held their weapons out in a defensive position, ready to attack if necessary.
"Who the hell are you people?" Dean asked in a firm tone, his expression set in a scowl.
The group stayed quiet as they stared at Dean. Castiel fixed his gaze upon the one wearing red as he asked, "Siel, what are you guys doing here?"
Siel didn't reply as he trained his crossbow on Dean. Castiel made an exasperated noise and motioned for Dean to lower his gun. Dean's brows furrowed, but he did as he was told. He slowly lowered his gun before setting it on the table. The four figures watched him carefully before lowering their weapons as well.
Siel finally removed his hood as he turned to face Castiel, and Asuka, Nala, and Taeo did the same. He gestured to the blonde next to him as he said, "Asuka informed me that you have been acting a bit off lately. Would you mind telling us why you are rendezvousing with your target?"
Castiel swallowed thickly and glanced back at Dean. Dean turned his gaze to him as well before hesitantly nodding in understanding. Dean slowly let his wings become visible.
The four assassins raised their weapons again, poised to strike quickly. Castiel quickly jumped in front of Dean with his arms raised to stop his friends. "Wait! Wait! Stop!"
"Move aside, Castiel!" Nala ordered harshly as she took a step closer to Dean.
"I can explain. Please, just...give me at least five minutes," Castiel bargained.
The group was reluctant at first, but Siel sighed and motioned for them to put their weapons down. Castiel let out a breath of relief as he lowered his arms. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure Dean was all right, and said male gave him a small nod.
Castiel turned back to face the assassins before him and started, "Siel, I haven't been completely honest with you about my past. You see, I..."
And so Castiel began to explain his past to his friends before him. With great detail, he explained the hardships he went through throughout his life, including when his wings were taken from him. Siel's expression softened as Castiel's explanation came to an end.
All was silent in the house for a moment before Taeo bursted out, "But this dude still caused you pain! He needs to be punished!"
"What?!" Dean asked nervously. "It wasn't my fault!"
"Says the person who has Castiel's wings!" Nala chimed in.
Dean quickly shook his head, "I'm not the one who took Castiel's wings from him. I had participated in an experiment with this guy-"
"Why would you ever choose to be a part of such an experiment?" Asuka calmly asked.
Castiel noticed that Dean's expression transitioned from a nervous look to a devastated one. Dean slowly sunk into a chair and ran his hands through his hair as he hunched over.
He let out a shaky breath as he replied, "This-this guy had been bugging me to take part in his experiments for quite a while, but I always declined. I guess he finally had enough, and so...he kidnapped my little brother and promised that if I did the experiment, he would give him back... So I agreed." A single tear slipped down his cheek as he continued, "He lied to me though... Once the experiment was over with, he just threw me out without giving Sam back to me... And I haven't heard from him since."
Dean sat up and quickly wiped his eyes as he added, "I looked all over the place for him, but I wasn't able to find him or Sam. My little brother's probably dead by now..."
Castiel's heart throbbed with pity as he felt the sudden urge to give the older male a hug, but he refrained. Instead, he rested a comforting hand on his shoulder. Dean turned to face him and gave him a small smile of appreciation.
"Well," Siel spoke up, causing Castiel and Dean to turn towards the leader of the assassins. "I suppose since you and Castiel are looking for the same man, you can join us back at the base for a while, if you choose to accept my offer. Your stay will be temporary, however, seeing as you have a house of your own. Once you have finished your task, you will be granted admittance back to your home."
Dean mulled the offer over for a moment in his head silently before looking back up to the group of assassins with a fierce and determined look in his eyes. "I accept your offer."
Siel gave him a smile as he chimed, "Welcome to the team."
Taeo clapped excitedly before bounding over to stand in front of Dean. "So what's your name, new guy?"
Dean sent the young adult a small smile and extended a hand as he replied, "Dean Winchester."
After everyone introduced themselves to Dean, Castiel suggested that he help Dean pack some clothes as the others got the van ready. Siel agreed and took everyone outside as Dean and Castiel shuffled to his bedroom.
The two made small talk as they threw some of Dean's clothes into a duffle bag. Once they were finished, they met everyone outside. After piling into the van, Siel started the vehicle and began to drive towards the base.
Siel glanced in the rearview mirror to look at Dean as he asked, "Do you have a name for this cruel man?"
Dean's eyes seemed to flood with hatred and his body tensed. Castiel's eyebrows furrowed in slight worry as he gently set a hand on Dean's forearm. Dean blinked and glanced to the side at Castiel, who gave him an encouraging smile. Dean returned it before taking a deep breath and replying.
"Metatron."
