(A/N) This chapter skips around a lot, sorry.

Coley's POV

"Thank God." Amber said as we got close to her house. I gave her a confused look.

"My family isn't home," She said as she gestured to the empty driveway and parked.

"Why would it be such a bad thing if they were?" I asked her as we got out of the car.

"Because then I wouldn't get to spend my afternoon with you without my family questioning you every five minutes," She smiled at me. I smiled back and followed her into her house.

As we walked into her house, I got a text from Katie.

Uh, Cole?

Yeah?

"Are you hungry? I can make some food if you want," Amber asked when we walked into her kitchen.

"I'm good right now," I smiled. I usually don't smile a lot, but I can't help it when I'm around her. It's like she brings out this whole other side of me - the side of me that's actually happy.

My phone buzzed again.

Did you go to practice?

No, why?

Amber started to walk to another room, which I'm assuming was some sort of study, and I followed her.

"We can work on our Spanish homework, if you want," She said. "I can't believe how much homework she gave us. I knew she was in a bad mood today, but damn."

"Yeah, but can you blame her with all the obnoxious boys in that class? If I were her I'd probably have quit my job already." I sat down at a table in the center of the room next to her and started to take out my homework as she already did.

"True," She agreed and laughed.

I felt a buzzing coming from my pocket again.

I just ran into some girl walking out of the bathroom. She looked like she had been crying and she walked into the auditorium when she left the bathroom. I was wondering if you knew her or something and if you were at practice you could maybe idk comfort her or something

No, I'm hanging out with Amber at her house. What did the girl look like?

What if it was Lauren?

"Okay, so this translates to-" Amber cut herself off. "Hey, what's wrong?" She asked as she put her hand on my shoulder comfortingly. The small physical contact was enough to make me feel weak.

"N-nothing, my friend just texted me and wanted to know s-something, that's all." I said as I gave her a reassuring smile.

"Then why do you look so worried?" She questioned. She looked genuinely concerned, and I felt bad for lying to her. I didn't wanna tell her something I was worried about if there was no reason to be worried.

Long brown hair, tan, kinda tall, wearing pretty much all black, idk. Really pretty tho.

That could be anyone, right?

Lots of girls at our school fit that description. I'm not there anyway, so I can't help. Sorry.

"Coley?" Amber asked again.

"What? Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to worry you, I'm just really tired. Nothing to worry about." I smiled at her.

"Okay, good." She smiled back.

It's fine. So... Amber's house, huh? ;)

Shut it. She just wanted to hang out. We're doing homework, that's all.
