I grab the collar of his sweater and pull him closer.
"Careful! you're going to stretch it out!" He whispered to me under the sheets.
"Shut up," I reply. "You're not close enough. I need you closer." He moves towards me and wraps his arms around me tighter. I settle deeper into our nest of blankets and pillows, breathing in his sweet scent. I lay my head in the crook of his neck and listen to the rain on the window. He runs his hands through my hair, his fingers getting caught on tangles. He moves his feet to mess with mine, his toes cold.
"Mhm. Don't leave me. I need you." I mutter into his cheek. he laughs at me.
"You need me? No, you need love. Fortunately, I can provide that for you." His voice is soft and he shifts onto his side to look at my face. He presses kisses onto my cheek and forehead.
"Come back," I cry out. "You said you'd hold me till I fell asleep." He wiggles back over and pulls me onto his body.
"You better sleep than." I press my ear to his chest and fall asleep to the sound of thunder and his heartbeat. Our warmth mingling and our breath shared.
