Broken sobs echoed around the now empty house, which just minutes ago housed a whole family. Patrick Stump sat on his couch in the dark, quiet kitchen alone, sobbing whilst clutching a photograph in one small hand, and another object in the other. A beam of sunlight caught the small object in the musician's hand, light gleaming off of the sparkling diamond set into a gold band. Elisa's wedding ring.
"Hey, mi amor" Patrick said cheerfully, slipping his hands under his wife's arms and around her chest, rocking her slowly and gently from side to side. Elisa immediately tensed up at Patrick's touch, very unlike her.
"Are you alright?" Patrick exclaimed worriedly. She was never like this. "I'm just fine, Patrick" she replied, her tone abrupt and rather fake, she smiled at Patrick but it didn't reach her eyes. The singer could see right through that fake smile.
"Patrick, honey... Not now" she said when Patrick pulled her in for a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Wha...?" Patrick started to ask, but trailed off as Elisa unwrapped herself from Patrick's embrace and ran up the stairs, leaving a bewildered Patrick standing in the kitchen.
(A short while later…)
"Elisa honey? Declan? Dinner's ready!" Patrick called. Soon after, the small patter of feet on the wooden floors could be heard, followed by Elisa's heavier footsteps.
"Hey Declan!" Patrick exclaimed happily. Then he noticed the bags.
"Wait...where are you going mon cheri?" Patrick asked nervously.
Elisa scooped up Declan and suddenly broke down crying. Her husband approached her to comfort her, but she pushed him away from her.
"Patrick! You need to let me leave! You don't understand, I can't stay here anymore!" She cried, tears streaming down her face.
"Honey...I..wha...what did I do?" Patrick asked, his voice cracking, eyes brimming with tears. "Patrick...I'm sorry! I'm sorry...I promise I'll never forget you" Elisa sobbed, giving him one last kiss on the cheek before picking up her bags and walking out of the door, never to return to her devastated, now ex-husband.
