IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE, DON'T READ ON BECAUSE SPOILERS!
The first time i watched this movie i dont even think i finished watching it because i thought it was too weird. I didn't see how it had won all these awards and the whole time I was waiting for that moment when I would start enjoying it.
I was 15 when I watched it for the first time, and since them I always considered it to be bad.
I watched it again last night and i must have changed in the last two years because I actually loved it this time around. I loved the characters, although they were fucked up, I loved the story, the dialogue, the camera work (filmed bare with no fancy angles or zooms or anything that regular romance movies have) and the sound track. Everything about it was awesome and I finally understood why it was such a well recognised film.
I laughed at the absurd nature of the two lead roles, almost cried at the intense moments and wanted to scream in frustration when Pat couldn't see that Tiffany was in love with him and that he was falling for her too.
I loved all of the movie, but my favourite scene of all was when Pat and Tiffany are about to go to the dancing competition and Tiffany is trying to put a tie on Pat. She is getting so frustrated because she can't get it right, no matter what method she tries. She is swearing and muttering under her breath as she keeps on trying, but she doesn't notice that Pat is staring at her all throughout. That look on his face is almost the big reveal, and although its a small moment in the movie, it holds so much power. We can see in his eyes that he loves this girl, and all of her fucked up, depressed and lonely self.
Later on, after the dance competition, Pat runs after Tiffany who has left the building in tears, thinking that Pat still wants to get back with his cheating ex wife. He catches up to her and she is angry, but he is calm as he gives her a letter from him saying that he loves her and he's sorry it took so long for him to realise.
I JUST SHSHFIOFLGLDLD i honestly can't with this movie, its now one of my favourites for sure. Its so much more real and raw than other romantic movies. They both have their problems and sometimes you think they hate each other but they end up being perfect together.
If you read this without having seen the movie, i did warn you about spoilers. Even so, it doesn't matter if you spoil this movie because it will always be amazing anyway. Go and watch it right now.
