CHAPTER FOUR. TONYA'S DESPAIR

DICK'S S POV

"Dick follow your mom," came the order I was was sitting on. "And Dick she told me she loves me." I could finally hear all doubt removed.

"Yes sir. This is one order I will gladly follow."

"Ummmmmm she doesn't know yet, Dick."

"And why not?" That aggravated me.

"She told me then ran out of the ball room. I can't leave after the first dance. Find her, talk to her and get her calmed down. The herbs should start taking effect in about ten minutes, once she starts feeling them get her to the room. Her personal maid will be waiting there." He tells me.

"Mom, what's wrong?" I ask her as soon as I find her. At least she ended up across from the room she needed to be in.

"Oh son I fell in love with John." She tells me crying. "How will I be able to stay once he has his Queen?"

"Mom trust me it will work out." I tell my Mom a I rub her back and hold her. I have never seen my Mom broken like this. When my dad died, Mom's heart was broken but she wasn't.

"How can you say it will work out. He found his soul mate."

Yes John found his mate about 6 months ago. We were training. All the sudden he went white and passed out. When he came to all he would say is she is dead. When we went back in a little later we found Mom crying. She had just gotten off the phone with her dad. My 18 year old cousin was killed by rogues. She was mother's oldest brother's heir. John went with us to the funeral and her injuries and time of death confirmed what John felt. I'm the only one John told though I did tell my grandfather what I suspected. While we we in England Grandpa took John and I on a hunting trip. Two weeks later John asked me for my mother's hand. I took hand told him yes but he would need to talk with grandpa. I know he talked with grandpa. Grandpa's only condition was that she had to confess her love before the end of the ball. He told John he just couldn't risk losing another girl. Mom is his only daughter, Tina was his oldest granddaughter while Cindy (my sister) is the baby girl.

"Mom please trust me." I beg her. "Mom you look like you are about to fall over. There is an empty room right across the hall. I'll get Emily to come help you get out of your ball gown. "

"Okay soon. I am tired and I am about to burn up. I have to get out of this gown."

TONYA'S POV

What an odd room? I thought I'd been in all the rooms but this one seemed to be sound proof. It has mirrors everywhere but the bed is what is really strange. It is round and actually big enough for two royal wolves to mate in.

Oh well it will do.

"Princess Tonya I was told to help you out of you gown and brush your hair." Emily came in the room saying.

"Emily you didn't by chance bring me a gown. " I ask her.

"No ma'am I wasn't told to."

"That's alright it won't be the first time I've slept nude." I giggle a little with that before I burst out in tears.

"Princess what is wrong. Don't you love King John?" she ask.

"That's just it I do love him. How will I go on knowing he has someone else?" I start to sob again but this time I throw myself across the bed. I cry myself to sleep.

DICK'S POV

Emily comes out of the room shaking her head.

"Prince Richard your mother is so in love with John but she does not know what it's going on. That is just wrong." She says pointing back to the room Mom is in.

"Emily she told him she l loved him and ran out of the room. He was not at a place he could chase her yet. I am about to tell him to head this way." I tell her.

The palace staff will do anything for my mother. She treats every one the same with respect and kindness.

Don't get me wrong Mom has a way of chewing you up and spitting you out and making you walk away with a smile. The only time I could say I saw mom really lose her temper was a week after the bombings. She was looking out the third story window and saw rogues attack someone in the garden below. The she-wolf didn't know how to defend herself. Mom shifted and busted the window landing on top of the rogue. She snapped his neck. Next thing we know Mom had every member of the palace staff learning how to fight. She has turned the staff into a virtual army. Her theory is there is no excuse for someone other than small children not to be able to defend themselves until help can arrive. We had two more attacks after that and in both cases it was the she-wolves who kill all the rogues even before the guards could get to them.

Seeing Mom now in their is killing me. I can't imagine how John is going to handle it.

I link John." Sir you had better get down here now. "

"Is she okay?"

"I've never seen her like this. It's like she is broken. John that's my Mom and she is the only one who will ever claim more of my loyalty than you. As her son I am telling you to fix this NOW!"

"Richard you had better not be disrespecting me. "

"Then don't you disrespect my Mom" I tell l back. I know he has the power to stop my heart but I've never been so afraid for my Mom in my life. I think John must have sensed my fear because next thing I know his big silver wolf is running down the hall toward me.

"What happen? "

"You tell me because she has not let up since she left you. It has just gotten worse." I tell my king."I don't know what you will have to do but fix this.
