After that day, weeks had passed. Months had passed, eventually turning into years. Serena had tried to contact Ash for the first few weeks trying to talk some sense into him, or maybe convince him to come back to her. With all of her attempts to talk to him, calling him, texting, he never responded. She didn't hear from him all this time and she couldn't help but feel awful. She had cause him to not talk to her. This just wasn't Ash anymore.....
Ash's POV
After a year of training in Pallet town, he grew bored. He had no competition and his team was completely overpowered regardless of what situation Ash had put them in. He was happy with how they preformed, however he was unhappy. He had spent the year completely sulking. He didn't speak to anyone other than his mother and Professor Oak. Many people tried to contact him. Serena mostly, she seemed to call him or text every other day and then a week would pass before she called again, but he never answered. He didn't want to talk to her, he said everything that needed to be said that night. But he needed something now. He felt he was ready to fulfill his dream now but where to start. For some reason he felt that Sinnoh was where he should begin again. He had made it so close in that league until Tobias had to bring legendaries, I mean seriously would does that? But he didn't let that bother him, his pokemon were ready for anything now, they were just waiting for his say so to unleash everything they trained for.
The next day came and he had decided he would be leaving. He woke up early and pulled out his phone. He booked a flight for Jublife International Airport that left later that day 'Perfect, this gives me enough time to get everything ready for my trip' He thought. He first decided to tell his mother. He went down for breakfast to break the news for her.
His mother was already downstairs setting the table with their plates. He took his seat and stared the pancakes down. He sure would miss his mother's cooking. "So mom... I've got some news" He started.
"And what's that dear?" She asked quizzically, obviously confused as to what this news could be about.
"I've decided to stop my training here in Pallet town mom." He said. He looked up from his pancakes and looked into his mother's eyes. "I've decided to head back to Sinnoh. I feel like I could really win the league there this time. I leave later tonight." As he said this his mother's confused faced became one with joy. She slowly began to smile at her sons news. "Thats great dear! This will be so good for you. This will definitely get your mind off of that girl, and maybe you can find a new love interest!" She said.
"Mom that's not what I want. I want to win that league. And I don't need to forget her... she's long gone." Ash said. His voice now emotionless. He finished his breakfast and went upstairs to pack. He put all of his necessities into his pack and went downstairs to say goodbye to his mother once again. He then went to Professor Oak's home and lab to get his pokemon and say goodbye. He walked across the small town and in about 5 minutes he was there. He knocked on the door and waited. He heard some rustling behind the door and soon it opened.
"Ahh, Ash what brings you here? Are you here to train again?" The professor asked.
"No I'm actually leaving today. I've decided to head to Sinnoh and I need my team. I've decided to enter the league again and I'm going to win Professor."
"Well that's great Ash. This could be really good for you! I'll grab your team and one other surprise I have for you too." Oak said with a smile before turning around to his computor. He came back with his pokeballs and a small parcel. "Now Ash this is a gift for you, but you cannot open it until the time is right, and you will know when the time is right."
"Are you sure Professor? How will I know?" He responded.
"You just have to trust me Ash. Now get going, you might miss your flight."
"Oh Professor, thanks for everything!" Ash shouted as he ran towards the one exit of Pallet town. He looked at his phone to check the time. It was 3:00, he needed to reach Viridian City by 6:00 to make his flight. He had plenty of time but wanted to be early just in case. He also noticed a text on his phone, Serena again....
As Ash ran to Viridian he thought about possibly talking to Serena once again. But why her? He had plenty of other friends he could talk to. Maybe he could contact some friends from Sinnoh. Maybe Dawn was available...
As Ash was deep in thought about past traveling friends, he reached the city and found his way towards the airport. He made his way inside and found himself a place to grab a bite. He ate his food and continued through the airport security and finally onto the plane. The arrival time was destined at 10:00 the next day, which meant he had plenty of time to sleep. Sleep was his favorite. He sat down in his seat. 'Yes a window seat!' Ash though. He sat down and fortunately no one else sat next to him. 'No awkward people sitting near me? This is a sign. This is destiny!' Ash continued to think about his companions and finally decided who he would try and travel with. He decided he would contact them tomorrow, if they hadn't changed their numbers that is. It had been years since he had last talked to them, would they even tememver him?
Ash eventually managed to fall asleep after all his 'hard thinking' and awoke the next morning when the turbulence of the landing in Sinnoh. Ash gathered his belongings and exited the plane along with the other passengers. He exited the airport and decided to head to the Pokémon center to grab a quick bite to eat. As he walked towards the center he began reminiscing about his past adventures. He couldn't help but notice that the buildings were all newer and taller than he remembered. In no time he made it to the center and began to eat. While he was finishing his third plate, the local Nurse Joy approached him.
"Excuse me sir, are you Ash Ketchum?" He inquired."Uhhh.... yea?"
"Well there's is a phone call for you over at the PC" She said.
"Oh well thanks!" Ash said with a smile. He walked towards where the PC was to see who was calling. When he sat down he noticed a familiar looking Professor. "Professor Rowan! How are you doing?"
"I'm doing fine young man. Professor Oak had contacted me and told me that you would be coming back to Sinnoh, I was hoping that once you got off your plane you could make your way down to Sandgem Town and stop by my lab." The Professor asked trying to be as persuasive as possible.
"Yea it could do that. It's not too far out of my way. I'll be there later tonight if that works."
"Perfect, I will have ,you assistant wait for you at the Pokémon center, just loom for the women with a long, white, labcoat."
"OK Professor, we'll I'll have to go,I'll head out right away!"
"Thanks you once more Ash, goodbye." Professor Rowan said before hanging up and the transition ended. Ash stood up from the chair in front of the PC and began to make the trek towards Sandgem Town. To get there he simply had to follow route 202. Seemed easy enough. Within an hour he had walked the rather small route and arrived in Sandgem town. He store into the Pokémon center and looked around for the lab assistant Rowan had described. After looking in all directions he noticed as young women with her back facing him sitting on the couch. She had long flowing blue hair and had the long, white, labcoat previously mentioned by the professor. He approached her with caution as to not scare her.
"Excuse me are your Professor Rowan assistant?" He said as quietly as possible. She turned around looked him in the eyes. Her blue eyes seemed to stare right through him.
"It's been a long time Ash." She said gently with a smile.
"Hello Dawn."
