Trying To Move On

Chapter 9

(This is about a week after the birthday party)

Calem had waken up much later than he normally had. He leaned up in his bed and glanced over at the clock... 11:20 it read. 'Wow I slept in late today. Wait where's Serena with my breakfast?! She knows she's supposed to have breakfast ready at 8:00 every morning! Oh she's going to get an ear full when I see her....'

His thoughts were interrupted by his phone ringing. He grabbed the device, unplugged it from the charger and quickly swiped to answer it.

"Hello?" Calem asked groggily.

"Hey Calem! I've been trying to get a hold of you all morning! You've got a challenge coming up!" The man said excitedly.

"What do you mean a challange?" He asked.

"I've organized a pokemon battle between you, the champion of Kalos, and Ash Ketchum, champion of Sinnoh! It's gunnar be great, we're going to sell out on all channels and all the seats in the stadium! I know you'll wipe the floor with this kid Calem, you always do! Anyways gotta run. Battle is in 3 days in the Lumiose City Stadium. See you then!" The man said before hanging up.

He slowly pulled the phone away from his ear and slumped back down into his bed. He simply gazed at the wall for a few mintues. 'I'm so screwed'

That same morning....

Ash had awoken much earlier than any other day. He slowly rose up, leaning his back against the wall while rubbing his eyes before giving a stretch. He glanced over at his night stand..... 9:00. 'Wow I'm up early..., it must be the smell of that bacon. Wait!? Bacon!?' Ash thought to himself. After he realized bacon was being cooked, he jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs only to be greeted by a honey blonde haired girl standing at the stove frying some bacon.

"Serena?" Ash asked.

After hearing his voice she jumped, nearly dropping the pan containing the most sacred of breakfast foods. "Oh Ash... you scared me." She said with a sigh.

"Sorry Serena." Ash said while nervously scratching the back of his head. " I just wasn't expecting you here. Why are you in Sinnoh?"

"I actually wanted to talk to you, but it can wait until I'm done with breakfast. Calem always makes me cook for him so I've gotten quite good at it." She said while giving him a wink before returning to the food. Ash nodded in response and went upstairs to change his clothes. After a few minutes of rummaging through drawers and piles of clothes he managed to find some clean ones and went back downstairs to indulge himself on the food.

"Wow Serena this looks great!" Ash said as he gazed upon all of the food.

"Why thank you Ash." Serena said. Her cheeks started to turn a light shade of red at the compliment.

"So where's Dawn? Does she know you're here? She's usually up by now." Ash said between gulps.

"She left to go grab some things at the store. She said something about poffins I think. And yes she knows I'm here." She responded.

"So...... what was it you wanted to talk about?" Ash asked nervously while taking a bite of bacon.

"Well... I was hoping that when you battle Calem, I want you to beat him." She said.
