Trying To Move On

Chapter 5

The next morning came and Ash was up early making breakfast. He actually hadn't even gone to sleep after what happened last night. Dawn had kissed him and he didn't know what to think. He spent all night looking at the stars, still trying to figure out what was going on. Why did she do that? Did she like him or was she trying to make him feel better? Is thoughts were interrupted when he heard a zipping sound.

"What are you doing up Ash?" Dawn asked while rubbing her eyes.

"I'm making breakfast, you hungry?" He asked not even bothering to turn around.

"Yea I'd love some. Let me go change."

"Sure it'll be done in a few minutes." She nodded but he didn't see because he had her back turned to her. She returned to her tent to change her clothes and fix her hair. After she did so she left the tent to find a plate of breakfast for her and Ash already eating everything else. 'Same old Ash' she thought. "So what are you doing up so early?" She questioned sitting down to her plate. As she sat down, she saw Pikachu sitting down at his bowl slowly eating his food. She decided she would let her pokemon out as well. She let Piplup and Buneary out and Buneary instantly materialized beside Pikachu and began to cuddle up to him, cause him to blush.

"Oh... well I actually never went to sleep. Too busy... thinking about.., things" He said not looking up from his plate.

"Do you want to talk about anything?" She asked. She started to eat her meal. She didn't know when Ash got so good at cooking but thank goodness he was because she didn't think she could handle cooking everything. She saw Ash lift up his plate and he began to lick it clean.

"Yes actually." He said putting his plate back down. "Why did you kiss me. It has literally killing me all night. I dont understand." He said frowning at her.

"Oh that... I dont know I thought it would help. Did it?" She said innocently.

"Well I guess, but I still don't get it."

"Ash I just saw you needed some help so I did something to make you better. Plus I kinda liked it so it worked out for everyone." She said. She pulled a piece of food into her mouth and winked at him.

"You liked it? Why did you like it? It was just a kiss." The Pokémon and Dawn sweatdropped at this comment. It was only a kiss he says...

"Well... I guess I liked it because... I like you. I didn't like seeing you down so I.. I did what first came to mind. I'm sorry if it bothered you." She said with a hint of sadness.

"No its not that, I just wasn't expecting it and I'm still trying to get over Serena and I do really like you Dawn, it's just I need some time to think ok?" She only nodded and continued eating. This wasn't how she expected breakfast to go but it was better than nothing. She had a chance with him. Maybe. Kind of. It was better than a no!

"Thats ok Ash just remember I'm always here for you." She said. She gave him one last wink and went back into her tent to pack up her gear. 'This is going to be one tough adventure.' Ash thought.

Many weeks had passed and Ash was close to finishing the task professor Rowan had given him. He had caught the Gible and had begun training it to get it to its final form. It was now a Gabite and Ash knew he was close to evolving. Ash had also gotten the Lucario he needed as well. While travelling around Iron Island near Canalave City, he met someone by the name of Riley, who also had a Lucario. Riley had given Ash an egg for helping him catch a certain kind of pokemon. Once the egg hatched it was a Riolu. After a bit of travelling and training, it evolved into Lucario. The Lopunny was also rather easy to catch because he simply walked around Eterna forest and found a Buneary, who after catching quickly evolved for him. The last stop was Snowpoint city. They had to catch an Abomasnow for the final possible mega evolution. This only problem is Dawn was hiding something from Ash. Ash had overheard Dawn talking to her mother. Her mother was asking what she wanted for her birthday, she had planned on sending her something to the Snowpoint city pokemon center so she could enjoy it on Sunday. Today was Saturday which meant tomorrow was her birthday. Even though Ash had just found out, he still felt he needed to get her a fantastic present. They had spent the last few weeks traveling together and he loved it. She was funny and always knew what to say to him and he felt happy for the first time in a long time. He knew he like her but he was starting to think that there was something more there...
