Kazuhi POV
"Well, I think I'm done for the day." I untied my sleeves and let them fall down my arms, "Thank you very much Hijikata-San." Chizuru bowed to me. "Kazuhi. Call me Kazuhi." I said clenching my fists slightly. That is at least the fifth time I've told her today.
"Hijikata-San? Hijikata.....San wants to see you." One of the soldiers said coming through the door with a confused expression on his face, "Why." I barked. The man gulped and cringed backward, "I believe it is to thank you, miss!" He said and I sighed. "I don't need thanks, I did it as a favor to Okita-San now he owes me," I replied and gathered my now empty medicine box onto my shoulders and prepared to leave.
"Sir I told you she wouldn't listen." I heard Souji laugh as my father rushed around the corner. "Please follow me...Hijikata-chan." He hissed through gritted teeth and I grinned cheekily. "Sure."
Sitting in a private room with Kondo-San, my father and the captains, Kondo-San personally thanked me for the help I have been today, "You're quite welcome Kondo-San. Although I will say a few things first..." I cleared my throat and my father opened his eyes to look at me skeptically.
"THIS PLACE IS FILTHY I HAVE NO IDEA HOW ANY OF YOU ARE ALIVE! IM SURPRISED ALL YOUR WOUNDED HAVEN DIED OF INFECTIONS OR YOUR TERMINALLY ILL ARE STILL ABLE TO STAND!" I barked at the man who wore an utterly shocked expression. "THIS PLACE IS A DEN OF ILLNESS!" I finished.
"KAZUHI!" My father barked at me, outraged but I glared at him, "Was I talking to you?" I said calmly.
Souji howled with laughter behind me, along with Harada and Shinpatchi. "What should we do about it Kazuhi-Kun?" Kondo asked me. "Clean this place up! Scrub everything from top to bottom.....I could always do it for you. For a price of course." I said, folding my arms.
"Tsk, you're behaving like a spoiled brat." Hijikata glared at me. I glared back, "Spoilt brat? Really? You really want to go there? " I snarled at him, beads of sweat budded on his forehead. He kept his mouth shut and I smirked. "I suppose you could get little Chizuru-chan to do it." I shrugged and got up.
"Hijikata-Kun!" Kondo-San called after me. "Leave her Kondo-San, we shouldn't have a stranger in headquarters anyway." My father stopped him, his violet eyes locked with my identical ones. "Bastard..." I mumbled under my breath and headed towards the gates.
On my way home, I felt the presence of people behind me - following me. "I suggest you stop following me if you want to keep your arms," I said, my voice low and deadly. The footsteps skidded to an abrupt halt. "Guess it is pretty stupid to sneak up on the devil child of the devil vice commander." His familiar voice rang out with mischief, a smirk on his lips.
"Okita....why are you following me, did my father ask you too?" I unsheathed the first inch of my katana. His eyes snapped from my hand to my face, "No." He said, "I followed you of my own accord. I wanted to thank you and possibly treat you to dinner for all your hard work." He said and I stared at him skeptically. "Hmph, I'll need to go home for a moment first. You may treat me. Just... don't let me get drunk." I warned him and he nodded at my strange request.
I changed into a red kimono, it used to be my mother's; the soft material glided around my skin as I tied it up, taking my hair down I ran a brush through it before clipping half of it back. "This should do," I said, my voice was slightly tight as the memory of Souji's forceful kiss filled my mind. He was leaning over my counter top, one leg up with not a care in the world when his eyes landed on me, "Damn Kazu-chan." He smirked and I slapped his chest playfully "Don't get any ideas baka." I warned him with my own devilish smirk.
We dined in Shimibara, the food was delicious, "Damn the poor life sucks after you taste this." I chuckled. His jade eyes flickered from my kimono to my eyes, "Wouldnt you be used to the poor life though Kazu-chan?" he smirked and I raised an eyebrow, leaning back on my hand. "I am used to it... What's with the nickname Okita-kun?"
He smirked, his cheeks slightly tinged red even though we are both far from drunk....just slightly buzzed. "Just something special for you, you can be my little Kazu-Chan." He grinned. Never mind, he is drunk. "Well, you're drunk." I laughed but he shook gain head.
"I'm just happy." He said and I raised a lazy eyebrow, "Happy? Why?" He shrugged. "I like talking with you, you're like a breath of fresh air. Hot feisty air that makes it hard to breathe but I like t. I like you." He grinned and leaned forward towards me. "You better not kiss me, kid," I warned him.
"Oh, I'm going to do a lot more than just kiss you brat." He grinned and pressed his lips to mine, crawling on top of me and suddenly I was lying on the tatami. "What is it with you dogs? Are you always in damn heat?!" I shoved him off and he groaned lying on the floor beside me. "Damn idiots have been around my father too long." I sneered.
"Hijikata-San never spends any time with women," Souji mumbled. "Well, he spent long enough with my mother." I hissed, tears clouded my vision slightly. "Are you alright? I'm sorry Kazu-Chan you just drive me crazy." Souji cupped my face but I slapped his hand away. "Just don't. I'm not some whore you can fuck when you're bored, I'm not some play thing either. Don't kiss me. Don't touch me. Don't even talk to me Okita-San." I got up and left out the door.
Memories of my mother came flooding back to me, along with that night. The night that took my chance of a family away forever. "Fuck you Toshizo Hijikata, damn you! I hope you burn in hell!" I cried angrily as I stomped down the street, but not looking where I was going I stood on a rock and fell twisting my ankle. "Son of a bitch!" I groaned in pain.
"That's his brat there." My violet eyes scanned the dark street when they landed on a group of men coming out of an alley, "Hello sweetheart." One grinned. "Back off bastards unless you want to die. I'm not in the mood to spare your life." I growled at them.
Some flinched back, "Shit she really is his daughter." One gulped. Daughter. God damn it all that man has ever caused is damn trouble. "Grab her."
"I have no connections with Toshizo Hijikata," I spoke loudly, getting to my feet I winced slightly at my ankle. I won't be able to outrun them.... there are at least ten men here.....damn it, I shouldn't have ditched Souji. "Don't lie to us sweetheart we've seen them at your shop, we've watched you leave those headquarters and your lil date is being taken care of right now."
Gritting my teeth I didn't dare show my worry on my face. Souji... "Pfft, you're going to take on Okita? Ha! You'll all be dead before you can blink!" I laughed at them, unsheathed my sword and stabbed him through the stomach. "Don't ever approach me again." I grinned with a crazed smile at the dying man. Blood spat out of his mouth as his men stood paralyzed.
Then they all jumped at me.
