Accidental Fate

Chapter 2

Kazuhi Pov

Whilst giving a woman her change, the curtain of my shoplifted and two Shinsengumi members came through. Glancing quickly to the other two customers pottering about, their faces filled with fear or hate and they quickly left. "Argh! What are you doing in here! You better buy twice as much as you just lost me!" I barked at them. Two grown men, masters with katanas cowered back from me.

"Shinpatchi was right! She is him!" A short boy with a long bushy brown ponytail cried to a man with green eyes. "Well? If you're going to buy something hurry up or leave." I glared and they nodded, grabbing an entire basket of infection-fighting medicine, and two baskets of pain relief. "Hmph, well that's not gonna be cheap," I smirked to myself. They handed the money over to me and I gave them a sickly sweet smile.

"Your last name isn't Hijikata right?" The younger boy said he's gotta be my age. "Why do you people keep asking me that?" I snapped and he cowered behind his friend. "Hey just asking cutie, your dad isn't Toshizo Hijikata right?"

"You said it," I replied. "That isn't answering the question." Green eyes said. "Right fine what is your name?" He asked demandingly. Grabbing his fringe I slammed his head on the counter. "IF YOU WANT TO KNOW SOMEONE'S NAME it's ONLY POLITE TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF FIRST!"

"SOUJI OKITA NOW LET GO YOU CRAZY DEMON WOMAN!" He screamed as his younger comrade ran in a circle screaming. "What's your name?!" I barked at the younger boy. He squealed like a girl, "TOUDOU HEISUKE EIGHT DIVISION CAPTAIN OF THE SHINSENGUMI PLEASE DON'T HURT ME SORRY FOR INTRUDING!" He shriveled up on the floor, his head pressed against the wood as he bowed over and over.

Souji stood rubbing his head, glaring at Heisuke. "Heres your change please come again soon." I snapped as I lifted another basket of the medicine onto the empty self. Heisuke ran helter-skelter out of the shop as a sneering Souji left still rubbing his roaring red forehead.

Souji pov

"Kondo San I'm coming in," I said and I was greeted by his kind smile as usual. "What happened to your head!" He grabbed my cheeks, pulling my face close to his smushing my lips out and I went red. "Kondo-san!" I whined but he frowned, "Did someone hit you?" He asked but I shook my head. "A crazy girl in town grabbed my fringe and battered my head against a shop counter."

"EH!? WHEN!?"

"Earlier but that's not what I wanted to talk to you about, it's her appearance." I said and he grinned, "Are you taken by this girl Souji?" He asked but I shook my head, "Kondo-san she looks exactly like Hijikata san, and is of the right age to be his.....well his....." I trailed off, usually, I would have no problem messing with Hijikata-San but this is just too strange. "Yes?" He urged me.

"The perfect age to be his.....d-daughter." I looked up and his face was frozen in shock. "T-Toshi has a daughter?" He whispered under his breath. "Wait even you don't know!?" I said and he shook his head, "No, but Souji I'm sure this is a coincidence. Now go and get some water for your head." He chuckled and patted my stinging fringe, "Its very red." He laughed and I rolled my eyes chuckling. "Yeah yeah." I waved him off and left.

Nearing the well, I heard several gasps near the gate, "Hijikata Sans back!" Heisuke yelled. "SHH SHUT UP HEISUKE!" Shinpatchi followed.

Sneaking around the corner I stared at Hijikata who was frowning at the idiot captains. "What are you blabbering about?" He snapped. Heisuke screamed and ran straight towards me, "N-No stop!" I huffed as he flattened me, "Get off me or I'll kill you." I threatened and the boy flew off.

Whispers start to arise about Hijikata Sans mysterious secret daughter and men began to take her route on patrols. In about three days the whole of Shinsengumi knew about the gossip, including a very confused Chizuru.

"Souji!" Hijikata grabbed my ear and began dragging me down a corridor towards dinner, "Aw come on now Hijikata San, what's pissing you off today!" I whined as my ear began to throb. He threw me through the door and I landed on my arse. "Watch it pops." I sneered at him and he glared. "What did you say?" He growled at me. "When were you gonna tell us about your secret daughter vice commander? Or does even Hijikata San have a shameful past?" I smirked and he glared at me.

Grabbing my collar, he pulled me to my feet. A vein popped on his temple as he spoke in a bone-chilling dark, deep pitched voice, "Listen here you little punk, I want to hear the rumors and I want to hear them now."

"E-excuse me Hijikata san?" Chizuru chan slid open the door, "This girl is demanding to see you and refuses to leave until she does." Dropping his grip on me suddenly I fell to the ground with a thump. The door slid open fully to reveal the topic of conversation for the past week.

"Greetings Toshizo Hijikata, my name is Kazuhi...Hijikata."
