Ohmigosh guys I'm so sorry! Read the Author's Note below so I can apologize some more :P
"Wake up!" a voice screamed into my ear, while someone was violently shaking me. "We're going to be late!"
"Bloody hell!" I jumped out of bed, glaring at Mary. "Could you be any louder?"
"She definitely can," Doe grimaced. "You haven't seen her during the summer break. She and I met over at a Muggle cinema, and she wouldn't stop screaming. Until the movie started, that is."
"Hurry up," Mary whined, whacking the back of Emma's head. "You're putting your shoes on too slow, Emma!"
Doe and I exchanged an alarmed glance, before I rushed to the bathroom. After a quick shower, I came back out of the bathroom, only to see Mary jumping on the beds.
"Is she-"
"She's fine," Lily said hurriedly, handing me a tie. "She just gets really impatient. Here, borrow my tie, I have another spare. I'd hurry up if I were you, this only engages her for a few minutes." Putting on my tie and shoes, I pulled Bella out from under my bed, where she was hiding from Mary, and rushed down to the Common Room, where Doe and Emma were waiting. As I set Bella down on the rug, I could hear Mary screeching, "Really? We're all set to go?" followed by thumping footsteps. When she and Lily reached the Common Room, we made our way down to the Great Hall, where quite a few students were already sitting at their House tables. Just as we sat down, Severus walked over to our table.
"Morning," he yawned, sitting beside Lily and opposite me. Lily mumbled a reply, and I waved.
Just as I pulled a few slices of bread onto my plate, Alice sat next to me, and Frank sat next to Sev.
"Don't look now," Alice whispered, leaning in towards me, "but the Marauders just walked into the Great Hall, and Black looks pretty mad." Oh god.
"What's his problem now?" I groaned. "No, scratch that. I don't care as long as it doesn't have to do with me!"
"Yes, because the world revolves around you," Doe winked, and I rolled my eyes.
"Oi, settle down," Mary laughed. Thankfully, she was a lot calmer than in the dormitory. "I'm starving!"
"What else is new?" Emma said from across her. "Mary! That was my foot, you tosser!"
"So I hit my mark then?" Mary smirked. This banter continued for quite some time, before dissolving into random chatter. Soon enough, however, I had something else to turn my attention to.
McGonagall had begun handing out the schedules.
"Better get back to the Slytherins, then," Sev said, squeezing Lily's shoulders. "See you guys later." And just like that, he left. Marlene left a moment later, after whispering something to Mary and glancing down the table at the Marauders. That striked me as a bit odd; was something going on between one of them and her?
At that point, McGonagall had strode over to us. "Here are your schedules," she said, handing them out. "And may I say, Ms. Potter, that I recommend you continue seeing Ms. Evans and Mr. Snape. It'd be, er, better for your academic career." I knew she was referring to my brother and his cronies. Choking back a laugh, I nodded as she handed me my schedule.
Now, while I managed not to laugh, some of the others didn't have as much self-control.
Lily, Frank and Alice stifled their laughs like I had, Emma was giggling softly, Doe snorted milk out of her nose and continued laughing, and Mary was literally on the floor, rolling under the table where her laughter could be heard, clear as day.
Yeah, it seems like Mary is that person in our friend group.
Soon after the schedules were handed out, Marlene came back. We compared schedules. Mine was as follows:
Mondays
1st Period: History of Magic
2nd Period: Potions
Lunch
3rd Period: Charms
4th Period: Defense Against the Dark Arts
Tuesdays
1st Period: Charms
2nd Period: Transfiguration
Lunch
3rd Period: Divination
4th Period: Herbology
Wednesdays
1st Period: Free Period
2nd Period: Transfiguration
Lunch
3rd Period: Herbology
4th Period: Divination
5th Period: Astronomy
Thursdays
1st Period: Potions
2nd Period: Potions
Lunch
3rd Period: Defense Against the Dark Arts
4th Period: Defense Against the Dark Arts
Fridays
1st Period: Arithmancy
2nd Period: Arithmancy
Lunch
3rd Period: Ancient Runes
4th Period: Ancient Runes
Now, I know that most of you must be wondering why I'm taking Divination, of all things. And to that, I say: piss off, it's my life. I find it a fascinating subject, and its refreshing because you can't get a good grade by just reading about it, unlike just about every other subject. Thankfully , Lily was also taking Divination; in fact, she also took Arithmancy and Ancient Runes, making her schedule identical to mine.
As I compared schedules with all of my friends (including the Marauders, who sauntered over along with James), I found that the Marauders all had the same schedule, as they all took Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes; that is, except for Remus, who took Arithmancy as well.
Mary, Emma and Marlene took Care of Magical Creatures instead of Divination, along with Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. Doe took Arithmancy and Ancient Runes, and Frank and Alice had an entirely different schedule, being in the year above us.
The only person I hadn't compared schedules with was Sev, who was sitting across the Great Hall with someone who looked somewhat like Sirius.
"He has the same electives as us," Lily spoke from beside me, bringing me out of my thoughts. She must have seen me looking over at the Slytherin table. I nodded, and she grabbed my hand. "Come on then," she grinned, bumping shoulders with me as we walked off towards our first class: Charms.
OMG IM SO SORRY YOU GUYS I CANT APOLOGIZE ENOUGH
It's so good to be back, believe me. I didn't mean for my absence to get this long... I guess I kind of just got caught up in life. I just started high school recently, which was kind of stressful (yeah I'm the worrier-type of person). I was also going through an existential crisis of sorts, and it got to the point where I was seriously contemplating doing a Sherlock and jumping... without a survival plan. I still am, to a certain extent, but it's not so bad anymore. Don't worry :P
Anyway, it's a new year so I feel like I should get some stuff cleared out.
I WILL continue to work on this story, but don't get used to regular updates. My life behind the screen is my main priority now. I'll try updating the story once a month, but again, no promises.
And thanks guys. You guys are THE BEST for sticking with this story all through my hiatus and I can't tell you how much it means to me that you didn't just bail. And even if you did, I'm just happy that you're back and reading this :) I love you all
and if you guys need anything at all, or you just want to talk, PM me :) I promise I won't eat you. ;P
