"I'll join you when hell freezes over!"
Chapter 6

After a long while of talking to Silver and the other boy in the cabin, Vladimir, and a lot of candy, they finally arrived at Hogwarts. It had been at least 10 hours, it was already dark out. Kay had slept for an hour on the train, much to Silver's surprise. Silver turned out to be agender and prefer they/them pronouns (and yes, that is what we'll be using from now on).

"Kay, wake up! We're here!" said Silver enthusiastically, shaking the poor boy awake. He shot up and sighed, yawning.

"S-Silver..." he muttered. "Are you Satan or something..?"

"Secrets."

"That's a yes," concluded Arthur. Silver laughed a little.

"Good evening, mother," grinned Kay. Vladimir snorted. "Right."

"My child!" exclaimed Silver, hugging Kay. "I thought I'd lost you forever!"

Kay laughed. "Well, you have not."

"Thank goose-"

Vladimir snorted again.

"You should go to the nurse after the Sorting," said Silver. Kay laughed, Arthur grinned and Vladimir sighed. "Haha, very funny."

((A/N: Based on real life experiences. Goose dammit mom))

"It is though," said Kay.

"Very," nodded Arthur.

"I hate everything and everyone," said Vladimir.

"No, you don't," replied Silver, "you don't hate your brother."

"You're right, I don't hate Aurel. He's cute. And tiny. Tiny cute baby brother."

"We get it," sighed Kay. "You love Aurel."

Vladimir grinned. "Good job, you're smart."

"We should really leave the train, though," said Arthur. The other three agreed and they left the train, as some of the last ones.

"First years, here please!" yelled a voice, though none of the four could find the source. "First years!"

Vladimir tugged their sleeves and pointed up at a lantern. Below the lantern stood a man, surrounded by children their age. "I think we're supposed to go there."

"Me too, let's go," grinned Silver. They pulled the other three with them to the small crowd. There they waited for the perron to be completely empty, apart from the first-years, of course, before the man led them to a lake. The four had found Lukas and Elizabeta, meanwhile, but Elizabeta went off to talk to another student, with shoulder-length, dark blonde hair.

"What's with her, though?" frowned Lukas.

"She doesn't like me," sighed Vladimir.

"No one likes you," Kay joked.

"Haha, funny," replied Vladimir. "You see me laughing?"

"No. That was shitty, sorry."

Vladimir grinned a little, and put his arm around Kay. "Don't worry about it."

Four people in a boat, was the rule when they had to cross the lake. Silver went with Elizabeta and two other girls on the boat, Kay went with Lukas, Arthur and Vladimir.

The trip over the lake took about ten minutes. After that, the children followed the man inside and up a few staircases where they got instructed about what was waiting for them.

"My name is professor Vargas, and behind these doors is the Great Hall. The students of the school are waiting behind these doors, waiting for you. And for food. But mainly for you. I will open these doors, and you have to follow me to the front of the hall for the Sorting. There are four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin. You will be sorted by the Sorting Hat, which is actually a very easy thing; I call your name, you sit down, I put the Hat on your head and you get sorted.

"Now, if you'd be so kind to follow me, we can get started!"

Professor Vargas began walking. "He's the principal," said Lukas to Kay, who looked confused. "I think one of his grandsons is in our year."

The doors opened, and the first years followed professor Vargas. Arthur was nervous, but he saw Kay shaking beside him. They walked in between two large tables, filled with plates, people sitting and waiting, half-turned to watch the youngest children walk. Two other large tables were set beside them, where more people watched them walk silently.

At the end of the path, professor Vargas motioned for everyone to stop walking, while he walked up the small staircase in front of them himself. He fetched a roll of parchment, and sighed as he held it out in front of him.

"I will call you forwards one by one," he said, "starting with... Anderssen, Femke."

The girl Elizabeta had been talking to earlier stepped forward. She was wearing a black hairband. Professor Vargas placed the Sorting Hat on her head, and it seemed to frown.

"Hufflepuff!" it then yelled out. Femke was startled, but professor Vargas took the Hat off her head and motioned for her to go towards the one of the tables, which had bursted out into applause.

"Andrén, Alicia!" got sorted into Slytherin, as well as "Arlovskaya, Natalia!".

"Beilschmidt, Ludwig!" A boy with brown hair and a playful curl sticking out the side of his head raised his thumbs at the boy that walked forward. Ludwig got sorted into Ravenclaw.

"Bondevik, Lukas!" Lukas walked forward calmly, he didn't seem nervous at all - but then again, Lukas never seemed anything, Arthur thought. "Hmm... You certainly have the bravery for Gryffindor, but... No, not Gryffindor. You also have the right qualities for Slytherin, though you would also make a great Ravenclaw... Yes, yes, that's good. Ravenclaw!" Professor Vargas took the hat off and Lukas walked to the Ravenclaw table.

"Bonnefoy, Michelle!" A boy at the Hufflepuff table jumped up and cheered when a girl with long, brown hair walked forward. The Sorting Hat didn't take a long time to declare the girl a Hufflepuff as well, causing the guy Arthur assumed was her brother to cheer and clap loudly. She sat down next to the girl who had been sorted into Hufflepuff earlier.

"Busto, Silver!" Silver walked forward, shaking a little as well - not as bad as Kay next to Arthur, but still.

"Ah... You have the qualities of a Hufflepuff, but you can do a lot. With that determination and willpower... Slytherin!"

Silver grinned and walked to the Slytherin table, sitting down opposite the two girls, one of which immediately started a conversation with them.

"Eriksson, Amanda!" was the next Hufflepuff, and then Elizabeta was called forward.

The decision for Elizabeta's house was quickly made ("Gryffindor!"), and the Gryffindor table seemed to sigh of relief in unision before applauding her as she walked confidently towards the table.

"Honda, Kiku!" was sorted into Ravenclaw and began chatting with Lukas soon after he sat down, and "Jones, Alfred!" was the second Gryffindor.

"Kirkland, Arthur!"
