Amery
"What do you mean you're withdrawing from your position?! We have no time for this!" I slammed my palm on Mr O'Neille's desk, my head almost exploded at the audacity of Daniel's request.
Daniel Kim, vice president of the Student Union, is withdrawing from his crucial right hand man position in this council just two days before the mass freshman Student Union recruitment, seven days from the deadline for the submission of this year's Annual Student Union Budget proposal and two weekends away from the annual freshman ball. Sure, the plans are all in place but the execution of the plans requires both the president and vice president of the council to be present and thoroughly review and improve each execution accordingly. There are over 10 different committees in the council hence there will be 10 different commissioners that I will have to liaise with personally, regarding different matters, if I may add.
That is too much work and too many people for me to handle by myself! How irresponsible of Daniel to do this to me right now!
As if reading my mind, Daniel placed a hand over mine and reassured me softly. "You will not be alone, Am. Of course I'm not that irresponsible."
"Yes, Amery. We have already elected a replacement for Daniel," Mr O'Neille removed the sleek silver pair of glasses that rested comfortably on the bridge of his nose and leaned forward on his mahogany wood desk, clasping his hands together. "Her name's Sigrid and she will be formally introduced during our weekly meeting this Thursday."
I jerked my hand off from underneath Daniel's and glared unbelievably at the two men and the decisions that they never included my opinion in. "Sigrid as in Sigrid Sharma? The captain of the volleyball team?"
The two men nodded in unison.
"You can't be serious! What does she know about our council? Sure, she was the school's volleyball team captain and they've won tons of championships in her reign, but this is a different kind of leadership altogether! I'm not in favour of taking up someone incompetent as my right hand man," I huffed, crossing my arms across my chest and leaning my back against the chair.
"Woman, you mean. Plus you have no choice, Amery. I'm leaving for Korea tomorrow for my dad's funeral after which I will have to see to important matters regarding his company. There's too many things to do over there and it will take some time before I finally come back here," Daniel sighed and placed one hand on my left shoulder. "I figured you'd need someone who will always be there for you. And after countless interviews and all that, we found Sigrid to be the perfect fit."
I rolled my eyes and dismissed Daniel's attempt at cajoling me. Standing and turning towards the door, I stomped out of Patrick O'Neille's office. I was still fuming at the thought of how they negligently excluded my say in this. I was, after all, the president of the Student Union. I was, after all, Amery Tatcher. Something only happens when I say it will.
Things are gonna get so messy, I grumbled.
