Chapter five: Roses are red
“Hey Beck” I said as he sat down next to me on the sofa holding a beer. I smirked slightly and switched the channel over onto sports. He frowned slightly.
“Sam, you never watch sports” he said gruffly, I just laughed slightly.
“And you never shave” I pointed out, he run his hand over his smooth chin then looked back up at me.
“What has that got to do with anything?” he said, his green eyes trying to avoid mine.
“Oh nothing, anyway I better go get things, I have people round at seven. You still going out for dinner?” I asked him, this morning he came up to me and told me he was going out with a few of the guys from town so he wouldn’t be eating with me. I had said it was fine, but then I noticed something when he sat down, he had shaved.
“Uh yeah, yeah, I might grab something when I'm out tonight” he said and stood up looking at his watch, he put his beer on the side and looked in the mirror fixing his shirt. I rolled my eyes and walked to the door. “No parties” he said and kissed me on the side of my head, I grabbed my bag.
“Whatever” I said and smiled at him, “Say hi to your date for me” I winked.
His eyes widened slightly “What?” he said “Sam I don’t have a date” he said, I laughed and shut the door in his face.
“And I don’t have premarital sex” I said as I walked down the street, I picked up my phone and called Jessie.
“Hello?” he answered sleepily
“You’re kidding, are you actually sleeping right now?” I asked him.
“Apparently not anymore” he said yawning, I laughed slightly. “So what's this, are you cancelling on me or something?” he asked, I laughed.
“Yes actually, I am” I said “and I'm asking you if you’d like to go on a date tonight, here, dinners at 7?” I declared as I wrapped my coat tighter around my body.
“Not to sound rude or anything, but I don’t think Beck would approve” Jessie said after a moment.
“He won't be there to approve” I said with a sly smile.
“Then I’m there” Jessie said, I checked my watch.
“You had no choice anyway” I said hanging up the phone, I smiled slightly as I put it away. The walk wasn’t too bad, I really need to get a car I thought to myself as I go to the shop. Then I had an idea and pulled out my phone.
“Hey, do you have a car?” I asked Wendy when she picked up.
“I was about to head to yours, and yes, I have a car” she said and then thought about it “Why?”
“Meet me at the corner shop on the main street” I said and hung up the phone, I should really start waiting for replies before hanging up.
And like clockwork, Wendy was there just as I came out of the shop with bags in hand, she smiled at me as she pushed open the passenger side door. “Thanks” I said as I got in putting all the stuff in the backseats.
“Need to make any more stops?” she asked me, I looked at her, her hair was mad as usual and her clothes were baggy and unflattering.
“Straight home, we’ve got a lot of work to do” I said as I stared at her, she looked confused but drove.

“Sam, I don’t feel comfortable in these” Wendy moaned as I rolled my eyes lighting up a fag, “Your much thinner than me, it shows my fat” she said pulling at her stomach.
