Bonds busted. Lance busted. Olympic athletes? Of course.
Actors with face lifts and stick figures with boobs.
Why do we all think so and why do the performers comply?
Fans live vicariously, dream big, and get inspired.
The performer competes and is driven to impossible heights.
Money corrupts and then we all ask, "Why?"
We fans are disappointed that we believed a lie.
Are fans stupid? I wonder.
No, just carried away in the dream of shaving that second away.
Of course most performers play by the rules.
But social pressure makes cheating attractive
To the exalted, who have so much to lose.
So think about our performers as human and flawed.
Then remember our children look up to them all.
