Lost within a dark void Jey saw a glimmer of light in the distance.Did he die?
Had the explosion reached him in time?
Whatever had or was to happen, he knew lied ahead within that small speck of hope.
He walked slowly towards it; an intense blinding light. It almost felt as though he was walking right into a brilliantly white star, as though he'd be incinerated. But regardless, he continued on.
Warmth enveloped him, followed by a chill and his vision cleared to find that he'd reached the cristalized field surrounding miles of immense skyscrapers and rows within rows of tall buildings and large monuments.
At the same time, a huge sound erupted from below, provoking light tremors from the impact.
It was the explosion. It had gone off.And then Jey remembered, the boy! Where was he? Was he ok? Was he still alive?
In panic he pushed through the thick wall of people that encased him there. He screamed out for the boy he knew nothing of. He tried everything in his power to reach him, but it all proved utterly useless.
As a last attempt he ran. Ran towards the heavily thick crystals. Ran towards his demolished home city. Ran with all his might against his own will in order to save if only that one life.
And so climbing the metal stairs that lined the city's perimeter he came to see someone else.
It was a girl probably around his age who was standing, almost glued to the glass, looking directly below. Her hand seemed to be resting over her chest.
Jey, having already exhausted almost all his strength walked closer to her and said "hey, by any chance have you......"
Before he could Finish the girl had rapidly turned his direction with tears overflooding her dark blue eyes. Her skin was almost pale and her expression, breath taking.
She once again turned to look at the city briefly after which she ran off, her golden hair flowing like waves with the wind.
"Wait!" Jey screamed, but the girl was too far from him who was too tired to follow.
Knowing it would once again prove useless to chase, he turned towards starlight city; the place he had abandoned to it's demise.
It was gone. The city he had lived in for years was now no more then ruins and broken apart.
He then understood what the girl was feeling when she turned away. Her family.....they were probably dead at that very moment and just the thought of it could have left a deep scar in her heart.
Once again he was reminded of the boy, just this time he began to picture him dead along with those who couldn't escape.
A feeling of guilt rose within his chest to the point it ached.
He tried to tell himself that it wasn't his fault, that he did what he could. But the pain would not leave him at ease, instead it kept growing and growing until it was almost unbearable.
And then he remembered, the passport!
Had his hacking failed?
No matter how many times he played the same situation over and over again, he couldn't see any fault in his coding. Couldn't understand what had gone wrong.
He knew it's composition; had memorized the layout. Had replaced the ship. Had altered the code. But still.....
No, he was confident in his skills and knew no fault that would lead him to such basic mistakes. He had to keep looking.
So to begin with, he pulled the passport out of his pocket. It was a silver plate with transparent lettering and numbers across the lower edge.Taking a closer look he noticed something odd, the profile picture was missing and the name tag read:
LUCAS [D-758]
In place of a last name it had a code.Even for Jey, a hacker, this was a first. He had decoded many passports in the past but none like this, it was a faceless ID. An unidentified.
