With that, the projected lights disappeared, and chaos broke out. The desperate cries of children mixed within the crowded streets ripped through the air. People old and young alike were pushed aside and dropped as waves of people walked and tripped over them.

But within the crowd, Jey once again saw the kid from before, the one he thought looked awfully familiar.

The boy was standing in the center of what chaos rampaged the streets. He was looking down into nothingness, and the bag he carried was now gone. In front of him stood a shady figure with its hand resting over the boy's gentle head. A few expressions seemed to leave its mouth, after which it grew distant and disappeared within the masses.

Time was running out.
Jey had already left his home and was headed to some place safe. But even now, no matter how much he tried, the boy wouldn't leave his mind.

His consciousness was tearing him apart, and every muscle in his body compelled him to go back.

Even so, Jey's heart remained reluctant and stubborn like a newborn child. He tried picking up the pace, but as the distance between the two grew, his guilt followed.

Finally, Jey came to a halt. And before he realized, there the boy was, standing before him.

Taking a closer look, Jey noticed that the boy was pale and held teary eyes. His hands and head were shaking.

He looked up slowly until his eyes were focused on Jey's.

"What are you doing here?!" Jey said almost desperately.

.....the boy wouldn't dare to utter a single word.

Again, Jey began; "We've got less than an hour, come on!"

And yet again, the boy stood there staring blankly at him; it was as though all humanity had been sucked out of him, leaving but an unsatisfiable emptiness within his heart.

Unfortunately, Jey couldn't afford to waste anymore time. It was either take him or leave him.

Honestly speaking, he wasn't the type of person to care for anyone but himself, not because he was cruel or selfish but simply because that's just who he was. He didn't care to bother anyone in any way and hoped nobody would do the same to him but, with this boy, it was different. He felt that this one moment in life would determine his worth as a human being, and if left untouched, would hunt him for years to come.

He simply couldn't turn the other way. He was determined to do what he could to save this boy's life.

So, having extended his outstretched arm, he grabbed the boy and ran faster than he'd ever run before across the, now mostly desolate, streets.

He could feel sweat running down his head and unto his chin. His heart raced like a drum. Dizziness began to take over as the world swiftly turned 'round.

All these feelings were a first to him, but he couldn't stop. Had to keep going.

After searched for what felt like an eternity, he began to lose hope.

He knew that now it wasn't only his, but the boy's life he'd have to protect as well. Then, it struck him.

How can you run from something below sea level? he thought, by going above it!

He knew this bomb was planted below the surface since it was far too large to go unnoticed and too heavy to carry, basic science, he thought. The only way to escape it was through the "crystal star": that gigantic orb moving across the skies day and night.

Even so, the orb was a few miles away and several meters above. They didn't have much time left.

They had come upon a dark narrow ally next to the desolate police office when they stopped to catch their breath.

Too much time had been wasted. With only 20 minutes on the clock, it was next to impossible to reach the crystal star on time.

"Leave...."

"What?" Jey looked at the boy.

"Leave!" he screamed to Jey as if to scare him away. "If you leave now, you'll be able to find a nanodevice and make it in time!"

//A nanodevice is a a voice activated machine capable of teleporting humans and object by manipulating their
molecules across dimensions//

"But the nearest one is at least 3 miles away, and we don't have a passport." Jey desperately answered.

"Here," answered he while pulling out a shiny silver card.

Jey couldn't believe his eyes; how in the world had this kid gotten his hand on an item worth at least twenty golden currencies. Twenty billion? No wonder his family left him behind. They were probably too preoccupied with money to notice him missing. He thought to himself.

"Come on then, let's go." A smile was drawn across his face,  "let's see how fast you can run."

"There's only one passport!" the boy answered with a frown.

At this, Jey laughed, then grabbed him by his arm and raced from street to street looking for the nearest nanodevice. The only way into the orb.

With only 3 minutes left, they came across one at about two blocks away.

"Hurry, we're almost there!" Jey screamed at the boy, who was now struggling to catch his breath.

"There is only one....." he struggled to say the words in between heavy breathing and coughing uncontrollably.

"There are two," Jey answered. "Just trust me," he said again.

With 30 seconds left, the device was almost upon them.

"Hurry!" he screamed."we're almost........"

Before he could finish the sentence, the boy had fallen to the ground unconscious.

Only 20 seconds left.

He hurriedly picked him up and began running once again.

14 seconds left.

He finally reached the entrance where he hung the passport across his and the boy's neck and proceeded inside.

Five seconds......

The room was dark with merely the light of a single teloplatform: a blue circle with only enough space for them both.

Four.......

Jey slid the card across a scanner on one of four walls near the entrance.

Three.......

He ran towards the only functioning platform, throwing the boy forward in an attempt to buy time.

Two......

He himself leaped over the boy and into the teloplatform screaming "code9 to crystal star!" while struggling not to slip or fall over.

One.......

A smooth sound like droplets over the surface of water echoed across the room, and their molecules began to scatter.
