This........am I losing it? Jey thought to himself am I to the point I can no longer distinguish fantasy from reality? He felt as his heart raced within him and from his stomach surged a strange sensation, one of anxiety and fear like a whirlwind trapped within his intestines. He felt far from sane ever since the eradication of his city but never as gone as now. Of course he knew that it wasn't the first time and it certainly wouldn't be the last, this in turn only served to incite his perturbation and debilitate his already feeble hope of making it out of this twisted reality ok.
"What did you see?" Clara asked sitting with her fingers crossed just above her shin and below her eyes as though it was an interrogation in what felt more like a torture room.
"You're joking right?" The question left Jey's mouth so naturally, almost as if he was waiting for that precise moment when he could just let it out. "You brought me here to this.......this torture chamber, locked me up and chained me to the table, said I was insane and a liar, yet still think you can just barge in here like you own it all and ask such a shameless question?!"
"I already told you it was a disguise, I had to. Privacy is no longer existant in this world, at least not to his eyes. Go where you might or hide where you hide, he is always watching." Her voice was scratchy as she set her overinflated pride aside in order to get some information out of Jey.
"Yeah, ok and I am the crazy one." Countered Jey sarcastically rolling his eyes to the side. "Haven't it ever crossed your mind just how much a human is capable of contradicting their selves in one day? Congrats you just broke the record." He smiled mockingly.
With a slight twitch in her right eye and the side of her mouth Clara said "you really are full of surprises aren't you? I didn't know there could possibly be someone as aggravating and ignorant as yourself, looks like we have another record breaker." And with that she just upped and left slamming the door ruthlessly behind her.
In the time he remained locked, Jey thought of everything he'd been told and whether it was all true in light of how little sense it made. He thought about the man who's name was a complete mystery and the fact he was said to be in full control of all and everything that moves. He thought about the strange illusion he had eventhough it appeared he wasn't the first. He thought about his life back at starlight city and just how messed up it had become. And thought after thought the time passed rather quickly until the door was once again opened.
"You want to learn more of our current situation don't you?" Spoke Clara who was together with a small group of armed kids, "then come with us, I think it'll help. Maybe then you'll be willing to talk."
"Care to unchain me? Would be much appreciated." Said Jey with the same tone of sarcasm he had addressed her just a little while ago.
"Patience." Said Clara to herself but loud enough for the others to hear, "Have patience on this kid or you'll kill him!"
Jey raised his hands to her and she accessed the lock that held the chains together, with a click it came open and his restraints fell to the mucky floor. Finally he could leave the grubby place.
"Where are we going?" He asked.
"Hunting." Replied Clara as she rotated the wheel to open the oversized vault door. She glanced at Jey and back to the rusty wheel, "a little help?"
Useless thought Jey.
"Come now and stop dozing off!" Clara shouted while whimpering at her ongoing struggle. For some reason this one comment bothered Jey more than the rest.
