In fear of it a few tried to escape, run away from the rumored lab, their handcuffs released a charge of electricity immobilizing them on the spot. Sparks of light broke through their systems disrupting their balance, interrupting their blood flow, and knocking them out breathless.
One of the white suits came and cleared the room of the unconscious leaving only those who hadn't run, or hadn't had the chance to.......
Another one of them took out a slip of paper and began calling out names with a warning beforehand; "to those who ignore their names when called there will be punishment!" and then he initiated with the first in the list:
1) Logan Culbertson, the boy who had written the bus with him proceeded inside.
2) Fawghn Dillingham, another tall, well built prisoner entered.
3) Blake Hoagland, A small guy with a serious expression then followed.
4) Billy Birton, a chubby kid appeared from the back of the crowd and hurried in.
5) Amber Cadwell, Jey couldn't believe it, it was the same girl he had seen when he first arrived. Her glistening yellow hair was still so beautiful, her dark blue eyes were like pirls in the ocean, the sight of her brought chills down his spine.
She entered silently like the others.6) Jey Bancroft, finally his name was called, he went through a white door behind the two and disappeared inside.
Inside was a long hallway with doors on each side.
Jey Bancroft, come to lab section G-001, I repeat lab section G-001. A woman spoke from a loud speaker.
The rooms were all under the letter "E" ranging from 001-020. In the far side of the hallway was a sign with two arrows pointing left and right, under the left one was the letter "F" and the right one had the letter "G" in bold print.
He went straight and turned right following the "G" sign. There, to his right were even numbers only while to his left were odd, the first door to his left was the one he'd been called to.
A woman was resting her shoulder against the door frame with some documents on her hands. She had a white lab suit and glasses over her eyes. Sliding her glasses back the woman raised her head and asked "Jey Bancroft?"
Jey nodded.
"Follow me." said the woman already walking inside, head focused on the documents she carried.
"So Jey, you're sixteen correct."
"That's right." Jey was clueless of why he was there, all he knew was that he didn't have another choice but to follow through.
"Tell me, why did you get arrested?" she asked flipping through the pages of her documents while scratching her hair.
"I don't know."
The woman looked at him slightly puzzled and then continued; "Are you a citizen of the Crystal Star, or did you come here following the recent incident?"
"I came here yesterday after the bomb...."
"One last question Jey, are you glad to be able to return even if to just the ruins of your home city?"
Jey remained silent with his head and shoulders lowered, his deep blue eyes only looking down to the surface.
The woman then moved toward. the door and locked it. She sat back down in front of Jey with a small control like mechanism in her hand. Pressing a button, the magnetic pull in Jey's handcuffs weakened.
"Raise your right hand for me please."
Jey did as he was told.
The woman placed a small vaccine like device over the palm of his hand and injected him with some sort of chip. It stringed at first then began to glow slightly on his palm thrice after which it disappeared.
"Ok, you are all set." she said opening the door where a guard awaited him.
"What did you inject me with?" asked Jey.
"Not much, just a little something to keep track of you while you're out there!" she replied with a fake smile from cheek to cheek and turned back to face the guard; "Take him, he's passed the exams with an above average survivability rate."
"Understood." said the man who motioned for an elevator a few doors to the right. Next to the elevator was another one of those screens, similar to the ones in prison, where the guard placed the palm of his hand and waited for the doors to open.
A white light rose from the crack in between both doors and they were pulled apart from one another. The man shoved Jey inside and went in himself when the two doors closed behind them both.
To the right were a set of about twenty-five buttons each for different floors, but on the button was one labeled "Department S-21". The man pressed that button which was colored red and the elevator descended.
With a quick ding the elevator stopped and both doors opened to reveal a dark space. The man turned a light switch besides an elevator door and the lights flashed on. In front of them were several cargocrafts: a small ship used for exporting goods from the Crystal Star to the mainland(Starlight City) and imports back, it had enough space for only about three people.
Jey couldn't bring himself to ride on one of those, specially down to the surface.
He had just about enough of all the nonsense he'd been subjected to in the last few days. Grabbing a code breaker chip he'd pulled out of his pocket back at the prison, Jey hacked The cuffs and started running for the elevator.
With the other one behind him the elevator finally opened to reveal another guard waiting with hands crossed inside.
He had nowhere to go, the one in front of him forced him back out and into the cargocraft with a bag filled of provisions and three seats around the inside perimeter.
Finally with a heavy clang and high creaking sounds a hatch opened from bellow and the craft was suspended into thin air.
