Alone

When the scintillating stars were scattered in the sky,
He gave her a bright smile and waved goodbye.
She was left breathless by the twinkle of his eye,
As she pondered, "will I ever be more to him than just a passer by?"

He made her laugh, he made her smile,
He made her get goosebumps and shivers all over the spine.
He told her she was not alone and showed her beautiful stories
And when the time came to prove himself, she was left alone with only his memories.

He flirted with her and made her feel special
She was sure he was not the 'playboy' typical.
Little did she know what was under the disguise.
She had to choose between making a run for her life or watching her own demise.

Broken at first, stronger by the day,
She realized he was not coming back again.
He was not worth waiting for anyway.
She made up her mind, determined to erase him away.

She became her own anchor, her own saviour,
But the aftermath of him scarred her forever.
Her heart became of stone, she couldn't fall in love and have crushes, however
There still resided the same little girl- who believed in love- like treasure.

She says she's moved on, she's over him since ages.
Then why she tries to seek him like joining tattered pages?
She has been labelled matured, 'cause she ain't courageous
To do what people do of her ages.

As the days passed with the clitter-clatter of the city,
She stands there with a smile full of sincerity.
When she opens the pages of his memories,
The twinge of pain still came biting back but with lot less severity.

Now she stands proud and tall,
She learned it the hard way, around him the world doesn't revolve.
With a willpower of stone and a solid resolve
To think thrice before she again falls.
