It all started when my mama told me to chop an onion for preparing lunch. When I looked at the onion, I was perplexed. It was perfectly shaped round onion. Its tunic was whole having no cuts and the roots looked like they directly came from a salon. I was in awe. I wanted to take a picture of it and keep ogling at it, but my rumbling stomach brought me back to the present.
"Goodbye beautiful thing!" I said and chopped it in half. And then I was perplexed for the second time that day. Baring the two layers below tunic, everything was rotten! I was kinda excited to eat such a beautiful onion and all that went in the drain in one chop. But that really made me reconsider the way we assume things. Blinded by the outer appearances, we don't consider the possibilities of what may lie inside. Looks are always given the first priority. No matter whatever degree of rotten prevails inside it is covered neatly by the tunic. And the saddest part is assumptions are made prior to the peeling of tunic. But would you rather have a rotten onion which looks oh-so-good on the outside or an average looking one which is fresh, juicy and tasty as hell!
It amused me how the smallest things in life can make us wonder about stuff. Apart from realising that appearances can be deceiving, I also learned that onions can not only make you cry, but also teach lessons!
