A few hours later, we were walking through the forest. We were back in the town, but we had to stay hidden. One look at us, and they'd know. We couldn't have that.

I was so tense that I almost screamed when Azi's arm landed on my shoulder. The suddenness of it terrified me.

I looked at him slightly annoyed.

"You're pink." He said simply.

"Yea," I said partially confused. "And you're gold, and Imogen is blue."

"How long?"

"A little over two months."

Azi was quiet for a moment. "I barely recognized you." His voice was quiet so that only I could hear. "Only your eyes were the same."

A small smile formed on my lips. "It was the same for you. I could never forget your eyes."

Azi smiled a little. "It's fun being gold."

I laughed and rolled my eyes. "How long have you been gold?"

"About four years."

I was utterly shocked. "Wow," I said quietly. "I'm surprised they kept you in public."

"I was put in solitary for a year." Azi said. "But then I was labeled not a risk and released."

"I'm sorry." I said quietly.

Azi shrugged. "I had telepathy." He said. "It didn't really make a difference. I just didn't see their faces anymore."

I wasn't sure what to say. "Did your parents ever come?"

"Yea, on birthdays, obviously."

"How are they?"

Azi shrugged. "We never really talked about it."

"Why were you in my class?" I asked. "You're older than me."

"Solitary." He mumbled. "It put me behind a year."

I nodded understandingly.

Azi was silent.

"How did you meet Imogen?"

Azi brightened ever so slightly. "We were in that stupid therapy class." He said. "I had gotten punished by an instructor and was injured. She healed me, so I didn't have to go to the infirmary."

"That was nice of her."

Azi nodded. "She had been to the infirmary many times; she didn't want anyone else to go there."

"The infirmary was a terrible place."

Azi nodded. "It really was."
