Chapter Eight
It's been three weeks since I've arrived at the NightWalker pack. It's been the usual. Dakota was as perfect as ever. Blake was still his sarcastic self. And Charlotte still walked around half naked arguing with Lauren. Colt and I were good. No. Scratch that. We were amazing. After our date being rudely interrupted he took me out for some ice cream and we ended up smearing it on each others faces. We laughed the whole way home. But yet there was one thing I wished that changed.
Rogues.
Multiple pack members had called in reporting rogue sightings. The weird things is none of the rogues attacked. They merely watched us. I don't know what they're were watching for or why but it has the whole pack on there toes. Colt and Blake sensing this came to the conclusion to have a good old fashioned pack grill out. I was a bit nervous, mostly cause the whole pack was going to be there. I know I already met them, but at the pack meeting it was Colt who talked mostly. Now it was my turn to do the taking which scared the crap out of me. I just prayed to the Fates that I wouldn't have an anxiety attack.
I was very surprised that I almost went through a whole month at The NightWalker pack without an attack. For some reason I felt a little bit more calm and peaceful here, than my old pack.
Just a little.
Colt and I were currently eating breakfast in a peaceful silence when Blake and Dakota came strolling in.
Smiling brightly, I greet them.
"Good morning!"
"Good morning," they say unison.
Colt puts his down his fork with a clatter on the china plate.
"Since we are all here. Blake and I decided to have a pack barbecue."
"Sounds great! Can't wait to meet the rest of the pack," Dakota says, sliding in next to me.
"When is it?"
"This evening at six," Colt answers.
"What's at six," Charlotte says storming in wearing a pair of booty shorts.
"The pack barbecue," Blake responds.
Charlotte groans before grabbing and peeling a banana.
"It's not going to be bad," I say.
Charlotte raising an eyebrow.
"Getting eaten by bugs and having your hair smell like ash is fun?"
"I think the barbecue sounds fun," Dakota comments.
Charlotte glares daggers at Dakota before snapping.
"No one cares what you think!"
Blake stands up, angrily, but before words can leave his his mouth, Colt responds.
"Enough, Charlotte," Colt says in his Alpha voice, full of authority.
We all go silent. Even though Charlotte shuts up immediately, she still glares at Dakota. Charlotte may not like being told what to do but nobody can resist the power of an Alpha's command. I glance at Dakota. She was wearing a slight smirk on her face, as if she was prideful that the Alpha defended her over his own sister. Her eyes met my mine and her face goes blank again. What the...
The silence lasts for a long five minutes before Dakota breaks it.
"Blake and I are going shopping for clothes, do you want to go Amity?" Dakota asks politely.
"Ye-," before I could finish Charlotte cuts me off.
"Actually Amity promised to help me...watch over the pack infants in the nursery!" Charlotte lies.
"When do you start stopping by the nursery," Blake says speaking for first time.
Charlotte looks flustered but answers quickly," Since now."
I was about to say I never promised anything but Charlotte looks at me, trying to get me to go a long with it. I sigh heavily.
"Yeah, sorry Dakota. Maybe next time."
"It's okay," Dakota says smiling.
"Ready?" Blake asks.
Dakota nods and they leave together.
"Okay let's go, Amity! The babies need us!"
Before Charlotte was able to haul me out of the kitchen I turn towards Colt.
"Is it okay if I go with Charlotte?"
"Yeah I have to take calls with other packs anyway. Have fun," Colt answers.
I kiss him on the cheek before following Charlotte out of the room.
"Do we seriously have to help with taking care of babies," I groan.
"Sadly yes. Colt will check if I didn't lie, and I really don't need him mad at me again."
"Ok but you couldn't have come up with a better lie? Like getting our nails done? Also why don't you want me to hang with Dakota?"
Charlotte stops at the door and turns to look me dead in the eyes. A serious expression was on her face which kind of scared me.
"Amity, I don't trust, Dakota one bit. She's bad news," Charlotte says her voice low and deadly.
I roll my eyes.
"You're just saying that because Dakota doesn't exactly agree with your choose of 'style'."
If you could even call it a style. I bet Charlotte's closet consisted of booty shorts, mini skirts, crop tops, and heels. My mom would kill me of she caught me wearing that. No joke.
"Fine," Charlotte huffed," but don't say I didn't warn you."

"This is absolutely disgusting," Charlotte squeals.
Currently Charlotte was changing little baby Carson's diaper. He was a plump little boy who could make quite a mess I guess. I gag silently as Charlotte chucks the dirty diaper across the room. Brown mush smeared all over it. I close my eyes.
"Charlotte, no throwing things in the nursery. You wouldn't want to hit a pup, would you?" Miss Cynthia says.
She was a small middle aged woman who dedicated her time taking care of the pups. Apparently she was not blessed with the gift to have her own so thoroughly enjoyed taking care of others. It was sad but she put on a brave face.
"A diaper won't hurt nobody," Charlotte mutters.
I was holding a bottle full of milk while another pup named Daisy happily sucked on it. Her small body was wrapped in my warm arms. It actually wasn't too bad. I could see why Miss Cynthia enjoyed this minus the poop and pee.
"So, Luna, how many kids do you and Alpha Colt want?" she asked.
I blush burned my cheeks. Kids? Colt and I haven't even finished the mating process yet.
"I don't know maybe one or two," I say indecisive. I've never really thought about that before.
"One or two?,"Charlotte says astonished," I know that Colt wants like ten!"
My eyes widened. I don't think my stomach could handle ten Alpha kids. I would probably rip open by the third.
"I-I don't know. Whatever Colt wants," I stutter another hot blush on my face.
"I don't really care how many you have but name one after me."
I giggle uncontrollably as a small smile spreads across Miss Cynthia's face.
I watch intently as Charlotte lifts the pup by his feet and takes a wipe to clean his messy cheeks. Ew.
"Okay I am never having kids," Charlotte declares.
"You say that now but when you meet your mate, you won't be able to take you're paws off him," Miss Cynthia says winking.
"You never know! I actually have very good self control."
"What ever you say."
I place the bottle on the ground and begin to burp Daisy, lightly patting her back.
"Okay I'm done," Charlotte says proudly, holding Carson up by his armpits.
It takes every ounce of me not to burst out laughing.
Miss Cynthia takes off her glasses and stares.
"Honey, you put the diaper on backwards."
"Ugh! Why does Amity get all of the easy work," Charlotte complained.
She sets the pup back down and fixes the problem quickly before checking the wall clock.
"Oh! Amity, it's five thirty, we should be going now."
I nod and hand over Daisy to Miss Cynthia. We waved goodby to each other and leave back to the pack house. Once we arrive, Charlotte and I change. I wore a simple white top with a pink skirt. However, Charlotte on the other hand wore her signature mini skirt and bustier. As we leave her room we run into Dakota. She was wearing a new black skirt and daisy shirt.
Dakota frowns at Charlotte before turning her gaze to me, a smile forming now.
"Hey guys," she says, happily.
"Hi," I greet back.
I nudge Charlotte slightly but she simply ignores Dakota. Ugh. When are they gonna make up?
All three of us descend the stairs to the kitchen. I hear the smooth stream of music coming from the backyard mixed with loud chatter and squeals of children. Guess the party had already started. We quickly join them. I noticed Blake and Colt playing football with some other pack fighters. Dakota's face instantly lights up and she starts skipping toward them.
"Guess it's just us," Charlotte says, sounding happy.
I see a two young mothers that I had come acquainted with and they wave me over. I drag Charlotte along with me, despite her protesting.
"Hi, girls," I say sitting down on a lawn chair. Charlotte plots right down next to me, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Hello Luna! Hello Miss Charlotte!"they say in unison.
I say "hello" back.
"We were wondering. Who's that female playing with the boys," Brooke ask, pointing over to the football game.
Charlotte answers," That's Dakota, Blake's, the beta, new mate. No one likes her."
I sigh.
"Charlotte, it's just you who don't like her," I say," Dakota is a nice sweet girl. She would be a perfect mate for anyone."
They nod and we begin a casual talk, with Charlotte jumping in once in a while. But abruptly we are rudely interrupted.
A tall girl with crazy curly orange hair and bright blue eyes jumps between us. A wide grin is plastered onto her face.
"Hi, Luna," she exclaims.
She looked to be one or two years older than me but had the energy of a seven year old pup.
"You may not know me but I'm Annie Casanova. I work with the pack doctor to help anyone injured or sick."
I smile.
"That's neat! And by the way you can call me Amity if you want."
"Really!" She squeaks. I nod before Annie squeezes her butt between Charlotte, who growled, and I.
"I think we are going to be great friends!" Annie screams.
