Half

You hear what they say about you. You hear it but you don't want to listen. To you, listening is terrifying, because if you listen then you will start to care about what they think. If you care about their opinions then you will start to pick apart everything that you hate about yourself. You will see what they are complaining about, and even agree with them. I'm too ugly and too scared; too fat and too annoying. It plays in your head like a broken record; over and over. It plays so much that you beg for silence. You cry at three in the morning because it won't shut up and you see so much truth in it. You believe that you're worthless and you are filled to the brim with self loathe. You have now turned on yourself because of what? Because a couple of people said something negative about you. They don't even know half of who you are. They don't know you like you do. They weren't there when you were at your lowest and beyond ready to throw yourself off a building. They weren't there when you forced yourself to gather your strength and continue life. They don't know what you like on your sandwich or how you like to sing at the top of your lungs when no one is listening. They weren't there at your first concert when you freaked out because the artist is actually real. None of the people who criticize you know what you watch on Netflix or what song gets you super pumped. None of them know how hard you cried when your favorite book character died. You don't need to change for someone who doesn't even know who you are. You are strong and beautiful and smart and everything in between. Take their judgments with a grain of salt because they will never know even half of who you are.
