Sparing

Me and Lee have been friends for a while now, how long was it? Oh yeah like only a few weeks ago he saved me from that jerk. We have been meeting in the meadow. We usually just talk, sometimes we have enough time to work on his abilities. He's getting better, But sooner of later we'll have to talk to Ethan and Adeline about teaching him, but we're keeping our meet-ups a secret for now. Even though I haven't said a word about the meet-ups, I could tell Adeline is getting suspicious. She almost found out one time...

Flash back

"Hey, Adeline. I'm going out." I say as I'm walking out the door.

"Where are you going, Peyton?" She said, brow raised in curiosity, turning away from what she was last doing to look at me fully.

My eyes dart from her to the door, though she doesn't see. "Nowhere...er, somewhere. You don't need to worry." I say reassuringly.

She nods, "Fine, but don't get into any trouble, okay?" She says with a somewhat motherly voice.

"I won't" I quickly say and dart out the door.

End flash back

Memories aside, I'm starting to worry as to if someone will find out. I mean, if I was them, or a mother at that, I would think it would be kind of suspicious for an eleven-year-old to be walking around a kingdom with nobody watching over her. Who wouldn't, right? Well I'm going out now and this time I'm taking a bag full of training things. Oh you know, like swords, a bow and some arrows, and other things like that. I could tell Ethan had some suspicion as to why I was taking a bag to go out. I told him not to worry, like I have been for the past few weeks. While Adeline, Ethan, and I were training, they told me about how soul keepers can tell when people are lying. But, It's weird, Its like they're not even paying attention when I go out. Its like since I'm a kid, they trust me so much as to pretty much discard they're instincts.

Anyway, I'm headed towards the forest where the meadow was and has been. I actually have never noticed the different species and hybrids that inhabit the Sky kingdom. While I'm walking through the forest, I'm left with my thoughts. And they bring me back to a very dark place. A place that I want to forget. The day Kayleih died. The scene keeps replaying in my head. I run up to Kayleih's lifeless form. I fall and search for a pulse. There is none. I cry next to her cool body until my older sister comes and finds her younger sisters on the ground, one crying and one motionless. Then my head is filled with Kayleih screaming that its all my fault. IT IS, I KNOW, STOP! PLEASE STOP! When I finally make it to the meadow, where Lee is waiting, I find that I was crying all the way here when Lee asks me if I'm okay. "Oh, yeah sorry, I was thinking about some sad things on my way here." I say, wiping tears from my face. "Oh, okay. Want to start?" He asks with a hint of sympathy in his voice. "Your on." I say while putting the bag on the ground and grabbing a wood sword out for him and I. "We can use our abilities, but try no to put too much force in the blows, okay?" I start explaining to him while we're taking our fighting stances. "I don't want to go back home with bruises and scratches all over me and have to tell them about the meet-ups. Okay?" I finish. He just nods and charges at me.

He raises his sword and forces it down on me, I blocked it before it could touch my skin. I ran to the side and transformed, He did the same. I swung my sword at his side but he dodged and used his claws to swipe at me while I was steadying  myself. He made a small scratch on my arm, not big enough to be serious but big enough to bleed. I looked down and saw the cut, I looked back up and smirked. I teleported behind Lee. I could see he was confused, I hadn't taught him that yet. He was looking around frantically, trying to find his target. I used this chance to fly by and land a scratch on his cheek with my claws. He turned towards me and says, "Hey, do you want to stop? We already scratched each other once." "Sure, but stay in the air for a second." I flew over to him.

Me and him were staying in the same spot in the air. "So... why are we-" I cut him of by colliding our lips together. He hesitated at first but relaxed and kissed back. I stopped and so did he. We both landed on the ground and transformed back to human form. "So... uh want to do this again, spar I mean" I say nervously. I could see the look on his face looks a little embarrassed and nervous too. "Sure... hey thanks for that. It was really nice. Truth be told, I've never actually liked someone in my life, well anyone except you." he winked. I nudged him. "Oh shut up." I said in a playful tone. He smiled, I smiled. I broke the silence. "So, next Thursday okay to come back here?" "Sure. Noon okay for the time?" He said while looking up at the sun. "Yeah, that sound good to me." I start. I transform back into beast form. "Bye, see you then." I say.  Then fly up and out of the forest, back to the castle
