SHEN POV:

"M...mich?"

She seemed like she was about to cry. Her hands shook as she gripped the arrow. Her lips pursed as she screamed at the exact moment she released the arrow.

-----------------------------------------------------------

"Shen?"

"SHEN!" Grace screamed at me, making me jump.

"Wh....what happened?" I asked, taking a deep breath. Ripples of intense pain shot though my body as I sat up. Looking down at my abdomen, there was an arrow impaling, possibly rupturing parts of my intestine. A feeling of puking registered as blood splattered out from my mouth.

"Gosh, that's horrible." Darius commented. "Take this potion, it'll help." He handed over a health potion as I gulped it down, instantaneously dissipating any remaining pain.

"Now, speak up." Luke pointed the dagger at my throat, the tip of the dagger pierced the skin as he threatened to push it in deeper.

"Why are you still doubting me? I was almost killed!" I stated with a hint of sadness. "You were almost killed as well!"

Grace walked towards me and pulled the arrow out.

"Almost killed? By Mich?" she glared at me after inspecting the arrow. "Stop lying. What happened"

I knew they probably wouldn't believe me, but I said it anyways.

"She tried to kill me. Us. I don't know why, I don't know anymore." I could feel water circling in my eyelids as I held it in. Not again.

Why does it have to be betrayals?

It's always me.

Expecting them to leave me with hate and disbelieve, sighed. Instead, I was offered a hand by Darius.

"I don't know what happened, but I can tell you are telling the truth." he said with sympathy in his eyes.

"Yeah, me too. You just feel... really disappointed." Grace agreed.

Luke sighed as he looked at me. "Alright, now we just have to find out why and what happened to her."

I nodded as I looked at all of them. They were exhausted and some of them couldn't stand still. The paralysis was probably still there.

I clenched my fist, thinking back on what happened to try to find hints on what might have turned her against us. Was it me? Was it something I said?

Then something clicked in my mind.

Didn't she faint?

Why did she faint?

Flashbacks of what happened and the conversation echoed in my mind. We were talking about the organisation.

I gave up, stood up and took the food from the chest that barely survived the attack. The ruins of the barrier that I made seems to have crumbled and dried up from the sun.

"Who's up for some bacon with eggs?" I asked, placing the furnace and frying pan on it. Their faces lighted up as I cracked the eggs on the pan and took another frying pan to put on another furnace. Placing the raw bacon on the pan, the meat sizzled and the aroma filled the air. I could almost hear their stomach growling like a pack of wolves.

-----------------------------------------------------------

DARIUS POV:

"Ohhhh, nothing beats bacon and eggs after paralysis!" I joked with a smile, hoping to cheer up the atmosphere, but to no avail.

Everyone sat there, finishing up their food and prepared for our journey. We scavenged the base with nothing but total silence. I had just realized how silent it can be without someone that mattered in a team.

I felt a mixture of rage and sadness circling around me.

"You alright?" I heard Grace asking and realized I was gripping on the blade of my katana. Blood dripped down as I shook my head and told myself to snap out of whatever I was in. I knew, deep inside, that Mich didn't want to do any of those, and that there had to be a reason behind all this. I saw Shen sulking in the corner and murmuring something, so I walked up to him and asked.

"You alright?" putting the same emotion that Grace had just gave me. He looked up and I saw his eyes slowly watering.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me."

I didn't buy that.

He sighed in capitulation and talked about his life for the past years, until he met us.

"I was always alone, facing death alone, running alone, crying alone, even laughing alone at times." he said, with a trace of teardrop that was barely noticeable. "Now I finally found friends, one of them betrays me. Is it me? Or am I just not meant to have friends?"

"No one is meant to be alone." I reassured him.

"Thanks"

I was surprised he actually knew how to say that word, but I shook the thought off.

"It's fine, go rest up. We're leaving on the first signs of sunrise." I told him.

He nodded with a new surge of determination.

-----------------------------------

"So... Where are we actually headed to?" I asked Shen, hoping he knows something or has a plan.

"We head east," he took out his compass. "Pretty sure the Organization's base is that direction."

"What organization?" Grace asked the question I was wondering.

A flash of panic swept past Shen's face as he calmed down right after.

He opened his mouth and closed it, before opening it again.

"It's nothing."

"You hesitated." I said blandly.

He bit his lip as he realised his mistake.

Heaving a sigh, he explains about the organization that started the apocalypse. I didn't believe it at first, but his tone was dead serious.

"After some thinking, I think Mich is a spy trying to stop us, but blocked the order somehow. She's in there somewhere. I believe her"

We all nodded.

"This is no longer just about our own lives, but the whole world." Shen warned.

We all nodded again.

"Lets do this." I cracked my knuckles.
