*The Next Week*

I walked into the school, wearing all black. I still really did not feel that colorful. Everyone was shocked to see be back a week early, but they all said some kind of comment like, "Sorry about you mom," or, "I'm here for you."

To be honest, half the people were just doing it so then they would get something out of it, like points for prom queen or the president of the student body council.

I sighed when I walked up to my locker. Everyone must have pitched in to cover the entire door of it with cards, sticky notes, flowers, and pictures that they somehow had of me and my mom. I pulled a picture off of the door and looked at it. It was of me and my mom last year at my birthday party. She had taken Amanda, Teressa, and I to six flags. We were all having the time of our life as we found a photo booth sitting next to the lunch area. Me and my mom went in and we were both messing around in the photos.

I let a small pout before putting the picture into my binder along with a couple other pictures that I never even knew existed. Quickly, I opened my locker and grabbed everything out of it, putting my stuff in my bag and the other textbooks that belonged to the school into my pile of things.

One by one, I dropped off the textbooks to the teachers they belonged to and gave them the news that my father and I were moving out of the state. Each of them faked a, "Awww," or a, "To bad," before I left.

Then I came to my first-hour class, reading. I shared this class with my two best friends, which I still hadn't told the news to. I knocked on the door before walking in, handing my books to Mrs. Frawdman.

"My father and I are moving out of state, just thought you'd want these back," I said for the thousandth time. "And you girls," I pointed to my Amanda and Teressa, "Have fun without me. I'm gonna want you guys to come visit sometime soon."

They both smiled at me before  Mrs. Frawdman kicked me out of the classroom. I silently flipped her off after she shut the door and started on my way to the office.

"Mrs. Clairdin? I'm here to drop off my transfer forms that my dad signed, the other lady said you guys would fax them to my other school," I said handing the papers to her.

"Right away dear," She said before walking out from behind her desk, embracing me into a big hug. "You take care now, and make sure to have lots of fun on your vacation from school. To get your mind off things," she said squeezing me tight.

She had always been a second mom to me, always here to pick me up if anything happened during the school day, or luckily, if I was late she would mark me un- tardy.

I squeezed her back before saying, "I have to go now. I promise I will come to visit sometime in the future."

"You better!" She said smiling. I turned away and walked out the door, waving as I passed the office window. I walked out to the parking lot and sat down on a bench outside of the school, waiting for my dad who went to get gas quickly.

A few minutes later, he pulled up right in front of me and unlocked the door. I climbed in and we took off to home.

**************************

My dad pulled into the driveway and I booked out of the car and to my room. I wanted to get done packing tonight being that my dad closed the deal early on the new house and even got it 3,000 dollars cheaper than it was priced at.

I grabbed a couple left over boxes and put everything else in my room in them including my hairbrush, make-up and most of the clothes. Once my room was all packed I walked downstairs to make sure everything we needed was packed. I looked around the kitchen a bit, packing away some things we forgot to put in a couple boxes and closed any open boxes.

Before I could make it into the living room, the three moving trucks we ordered arrived. One of the guys came up and knocked on the door. I swiftly moved around the boxes and made it to the front door,  opening it.

"Umm, we're here for the moving business that needed to be handled. Can you show us to anything we could help put in the trucks?" He asked.

"Yes please," I motioned for them to come into the house, "Everything in the kitchen here is ready to go. Anything with a big smiley face sticker on the top has fragile things in it so please be very careful with them. Also, try to put anything with the stickers in one truck so when we unpack we know where it all is. I will be in the living room making sure everything in there is packed and when I'm done I'll make sure to notify you guys so you can help pack that stuff up. My dad should be out here any moment to help too," I said quickly before turning around and walking into the living room.

I did the same as in the kitchen, walked around making sure everything was packed up. Adding a few things to a couple of boxes and closing them all.

One of the moving guys peeked his head in the living room, "You done in here?"

"Yea go ahead, I'm gonna go bring my stuff down from my room," I answered, turning back to the kitchen and walking up to my room.

Soon, we finished loading all the trucks with the things we packed and were ready to get on the road.

I took my final glances around the house I grew up in before walking out of the house and getting into the car with my dad on my heals.

"Goodbye Mom," I whispered as we pulled off down the street towards my new home.

I woke up to bright lights shining into my face.  I blinked a few times before my eyes adjusted to the light. Sitting up in my seat, I looked around. We were at a gas station, which looked like was in the middle of nowhere.

I looked around for my father, who I found was in the store checking out at the counter. I watched him as he made his was back to the car.

"Hey, Vi, glad you got up," he started, offering me a bottle of Pepsi and a bag of combo's, and of course I took them. "We are almost there, figured you would want to see the neighborhood as we drive by. The house is on the other side of town."

"This is  a  town?" I asked, looking around again to check to see if I had missed any houses, but all there was was trees.

"You can tell you grew up in the city," he laughed, starting the car and pulling out of the parking lot.

A few moments later we entered the real town, where there were many small houses scattered up and down streets branching off the highway we were driving on. Each house had its own yard, which was better than any house in the city, which was basically made up of tall apartment buildings.

"I guess I'm gonna have to get used to it," I  stated.

"I  guess you will," my father answered, still chuckling.

As we reached the center of the town, there was more gas stations, supermarkets, and even a couple schools. Kids from kindergarten up to 12th grade were flooding out of the buildings, all laughing and having a good time as school ended.

I scanned their faces,  trying to see anyone that I could possibly become friends with, but all I saw was a bunch of poses of girls that looked very unwelcoming and one slightly attractive guy who had stopped in his tracks and seemed to be staring at me. His large group of friends had already gotten a few yards ahead of him by the time we passed him.

Though as we neared him, right before we passed him, I realized his eyes were black. Darker than the clothes I had been wearing ever since....

I shook my head to get out of that thought and turned back around in my seat when I realized I  had almost been sitting completely backward in the seat. I tried to focus on something else, but no matter what I tried I couldn't shake the weird feeling I had.

It was almost as if I knew him....
