Sans woke to the sound of someone yelling. Sans shot up and looked around, realizing two things; one, Undyne was yelling at him to wake up, two, he had set the room on fire. Sans calmed himself and the flames slowly went out. Undyne walked over to Sans' bed and said, "Thank the heavens you actually woke up! Jeez, I thought you were gonna burn down the whole building!" Sans said, "Heh... Sorry about that." Undyne sighed and said, "I won't tell Papyrus, if that makes you feel any better."

Sans shrugged and said, "Eh, a little... So, why're you here?" Undyne said, "Papyrus said that he was busy and wanted me to make sure you didn't sleep all day." Sans groaned and asked, "What time is it?" Undyne said, "Don't worry, it's only 10 am." Sans sighed with relief and said, "I guess that's good." Undyne said, "Well, I've got to go report to Papyrus and tell him your up. See ya around." Sans nodded and said, "You too." Undyne left, closing the door behind her. Sans stared at the door, thinking about his nightmare.

He stood up from his bed and grabbed a new shirt, since he had nearly destroyed the one he was wearing. Sans threw it on and slipped on his jacket and slippers. Sans decided he'd petrol that side of the town that he had been at earlier; the forest. He walked around, looking at all the strange new wildlife that he had only studied about. Suddenly, a twig snapped and Sans flew around, searching frantically for the source of the sound. And just as he was about to give up, a small sob broke through the silence.

Sans said out, "Hey... Uh, if you're human, I won't hurt ya... I'm friendly... Not like them." A small child, looking at least 5 years old, walked out from the shadows of trees and bushes. The child somehow looked familiar to Sans; they had long black hair that went to their shoulders, pale skin, electric green eyes, a solid yellow tee shirt, jeans shorts, and yellow sneakers. The child sobbed, "I- I can't find my sibby." Sans thought, "'Sibby'? Like, sibling? Probably." Sans said, "Hey, kid... I'm sorry to say, but they're probably dead..."

The child sniffled and said, "I'm s- scared. I don't kn- know what to d- do." Sans said, "Well, I'll help you. I won't let them lay a finger on ya. I promise." The child perked up and asked hopefully, "R- really?" Sans nodded. The child smiled and said, "Th- thank you, Mr. Monster!" Sans said, "Eh, it's just Sans, kid. What's your name?" The child said, "M- my name's Lorn." Sans said, "Well, I'm sure none of my brother's- er, the king's guards petrol over here if they hadn't found you yet. I guess we could build a small cabin."

Lorn smiled and said, "I- I've always wanted to sleep i- in a cabin!" Sans smiled genuinely and said, "Sweet. I've always had a thing for small houses." Sans left eye socket glowed blue and he used his magic to lift wood and other materials to build the cabin. Lorn stared with stars in their eyes as they watched Sans. Sans said as he moved things, "Hey, kid. You like to watch me work my magic?" Lorn bursted into laughter. Sans chuckled, happy he made the child laugh.

Soon, the sun was near setting and Sans finally finished the cabin. Sans opened the door and said, "After you." Lorn walked in and looked around; one window, and one door. Besides that, the room was empty. Lorn giggled and said, "I- I love it!" Sans said, "Hold up. It gets better." Sans teleported to a random house in town that wasn't inhabited by monsters and grabbed a bed. With his hand on the bed, he teleported back to the cabin. The bed sat in the middle of the room as Sans moved away from it.

Sans said, "I gotcha a bed to sleep on." Lorn smiled and said, "Th- thank you, Sas." Sans chuckled and said, "Sans." Lorn said, "Sand?" Sans said, "Sans." Lorn said, "Snaz?" Sans sighed with a smile on his face. Lorn walked up to Sans and hugged him. Sans looked down at the kid in shock. Lorn asked, "C- can you b- be my sibby?" Sans sighed with a smile and hugged Lorn back. He said, "Sure, kid. Whatever helps ya sleep at night." Lorn pulled away and ran to jump on the bed. Sans watched with a smile on his face.

Suddenly, a memory flashed in Sans' mind; Papyrus jumping on his race car bed when he had first gotten it. Sans shook his head out of it and went back to watching the kid jump with a smile on their face. After a while the kid had gotten tired and laid down, shortly falling asleep after. Sans thought, "I'll leave 'em a note. Wait, can they read? I guess I'll just have to hope they can." Sans wrote a note that he'd be back tomorrow and pinned it to the wall. On the note, it also warned to stay out of sight.
