"Psst"
My sleepy eyes slightly squinted open.
It was almost pitch black and the area was completely silent.
"Hey, Azlyn"
I looked over to see Kala kneeling beside my bed. She appeared rough and beaten-up.
"Kala, why are you up?"
Her brown, sharp, cat-eyes had thick black and purple circles around them & her cheeks were bumpy and grazed.
"Oh god, what hap-"
She shook her head and put a cold finger up to my lips before I could continue any further.
When she took her hand away I sat up and faced her.
"I'm going away"
She took a deep breath.
"And.. I'm not coming back"
A wave of utter abandonment rushed over me. I had felt like this many times but this time it was different, Kala was actually leaving me.
"What are you talking about?"
I couldn't help but wonder where she was going.
Ever since she was kicked out of the Queendom of Belisama she had latched on to me and uncle Damien.
We were a imperfect, little, make-shift family.
Without Kala, I wouldn't have a friend. I would be alone again.
"Kala stop this right now"
Why was she running away?
"I love you"
She gasped before she covered her face with her black-gloved hand.
She then pressed her soft, pink lips on to my tan forehead before quickly standing up.
I watched as she tied back her short and silky black hair. She reached over to my drawers and slid on a thick and knitted jumper.
Was I dreaming? Please say I'm dreaming.
"No, please don't-"
She sprinted quietly out the bedroom door and down the hallway.
"Please.."
I whispered. It was too late. Kala was really gone.
The moonlight cast dark and mysterious shadows across my walls.
I began picturing them as monsters and gangs. They were trying to hurt me. That's when I knew, I was not going back to sleep.
A few moments later, the front door to our base slammed shut.
An insignificant, burning tear rolled down my cheek. I wanted to burst into a million tears and go and wake up uncle Damien.
I knew that I couldn't tell him that she had told me she was going, he'd for sure kick me out for not stopping her.
I gripped my pillow tightly.
My thoughts ran wild, I couldn't think about her right now, I had to gather energy for the morning.
But what the hell was I going to tell uncle Damien?
