Chapter Ten

It had been a few days of me just laying in bed. The nicer boys would bring me food and talk to me for a while before they had to go on supply runs or to gang meetings.
Honestly, it was killing me.
I hated that all I could do was lay down, sometimes sit up if Ash was out. He wouldn't stop nagging at me.
"Have you gotten up?"
"No dad"
I rolled my eyes at Ash when he entered the room. He held a bowl of soup, like always.
"You better eat up"
I angrily pushed away the thick, brown liquid.
"When can I help out?"
Ash had already told me that asking questions got me in trouble, but I didn't play by their rules.
"When you're able to walk again without falling"
"I can walk!"
I whined, trying to stand up.
My legs caved in after a second and I fell back on to the bed.
"You'll be fixed soon"
He called as he walked out of the room.
Soon. How far away was soon?
I huffed and flung myself on to the bed. I hoped soon would hurry up and come.
"Knock knock"
I looked over to the door. Hunter stood there bearing clothes, his curly hair was tied back into a pony tail.
"Hey Hunter"
Weakly smiling, I nodded for him to come in.
"Did Ash say you'll 'be okay soon' once again?"
He laughed before seating himself on the end of my bed.
"When does he not say that?"
I sat up beside him.
"He does it because he wants to protect you. Ash is like, the mean, strict and harsh dad of the group"
This was true. Well, somewhat true. Ash was the leader, we all had to respect him and in return he'd look after us.
"What's that?"
I asked, changing the subject and pointing at the pile of clothes Hunter had brought in.
He smiled.
"Oh these? Nothing"
"Hunter!"
I squealed reaching over to grab them, but he held them high above my head.
"Shh"
He laughed as I jumped over him and grabbed the clothes, he finally gave them to me.
"For me?" I gasped.
"Who else?"
He smirked as my eyes grew wide with excitement.
These weren't bed rest clothes like he'd usually give me. These were going out clothes. I was getting to go out.
"Are you serious?!"
I yelled forcing myself onto Hunter and hugging him tightly.
He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me back.
"Get ready Azlyn. We're going out at noon"
A big smile grew across my face. But how was I suppose to go out when I couldn't even stand up properly?
"I have to get back. See you later"
He stroked my fuzzy hair and then left. I heard him talking to Avarice outside my room.
"You got this Azlyn"
I said as I gripped the side of my bed in attempt to stand up.
Sharp, shooting pains overcame my body.
I refused to give up. If Kala was here, she'd tell me to keep trying.
I leaned on my good leg, applying little pressure onto my wounded one.
It was working, so far so good.
"Come on. Baby steps"
My foot touched the floor lightly, my whole leg was burning. It hurt so much.
I pressed harder, trying to take one step forward.
Instead my whole leg gave up and caused me to scream out for help as I fell onto the floor.
"What the hell!"
Ash yelled when he saw me in a pile on the floor.
"Why were you out of bed?!"
I clenched my fists. The pain was unbearable.
"I'm not.. I'm not getting better Ash. Am I?"
My breaths were slow and seething. I could only mutter my words.
He carefully lifted me on to the bed and re did my bandages.
"You're-"
"I'm never going to get better am I?"
I cut him off.
Tears dripped out of my eyes. Maybe I would never be able to walk again. Only the thought of having to stay in bed my whole life hurt me physically.
"Shut up. You will"
"But when? Soon. Ugh I'm sick of being told soon. I want now!"
I tantrum.
My head was pounding and my body ached. I wanted to be left alone, I wanted to go outside again and parkour, I wanted to get up without hurting.
"I can't do this"
My weeps fill the room, echoing from wall to wall. Hearing myself sound so weak and helpless made me sick.
"Get up"
My attention went to Ash who was grinding his teeth together.
"What?"
"I said, get up. Now"
Was Ash mad at me for crying? Was he going to punish me?
He knew I couldn't get up, he just witnessed me fall and almost break my leg.
"I can't-"
"The only thing you can't do, is cry and stay in bed all day"
He stood in front of me and held out his hand.
"Hunter, you better get in here"
He called out. Within moments Hunter was standing right next to him.
He looked worried. Ash however, only looked determined.
"Azlyn. Grab my hands and put your weight on me"
Ash soothed me.
I lifted out my weak arms and softly laid my hands on to Ash's.
Hunter held my waist and helped me stand upright.
"Ouch! Ouch! Ash!"
I whined.
Ash was squeezing my hands and dragging me towards him.
"Don't give up"
He mouthed to me.
Don't give up. Easier said than done. I scoffed to myself and bit down on my lip to take my mind off of the pain.
"I got you okay?"
Hunter comforted me, his hands still gripped on to my waist.
Before I realised, i had walked three steps subconsciously.
"I did it! Ash, Hunter, I did it!"
I screamed out.
Hunter smiled widely and Ash gave a small smirk.
"Come on, let's get you geared up. We're going out tonight"
