Jaxon had the phone on speaker phone.
"Hey man, I talk to my dog all the time. He really listens. Don't mean anything." Jaxon was really sweating it. I don't think it was the fact he talked to me, but more the fact I made his heart race. In his head I was a dog, but his soul already understood I was a person.
His mom and brother had already come home. The little one was watching cartoons and Mama was in the kitchen making dinner.
"So have you thought about Courtney?" My ears peaked up at the sound of her name. I tried not to overreact.
"Geebs, you know I don't got a thing for her." I started breathing hard, but I was tame for now.
"But she really got a thing for you, and you've known her for forever, and she got hot over the Summer." I started getting restless. Jaxon glanced over at me, concerned.
"She wasn't appealing before, she wasn't appealing after, and right she couldn't be further from my mind. I just don't know how to chill things out with her. She's a good friend but... I don't want to deal with her feelings."
I got up from my spot on the floor and walked towards Jaxon, my paws clicking on the floor. He seemed to brighten up with me beside him. I cuddled into his side, while he sat on his bed. He started petting me.
"Besides, if she's so hot- why don't you get her off my back?"
His friend replied appalled, "You know I don't do the dating thing. Court is way too sweet to mess with. I'm like 90% certain she saved her virginity for you."
Jaxon cringed. "Yeah well, good for her. I don't want it. And I especially don't want to.. you know..."
I could hear laughter from the other side. "Haha! You can't even say it out loud you virgin! I don't know why you made such a big deal about it."
Jaxon looked sheepish. "My dad lost his to my mom. I have standards to measure up to."
"How are you ever going to know if she's the one when you haven't gone at her?"
"Geebs there are more to women than sex! God you're like a dog." I growled a bit before I realized what I was doing. A dog? Please... wolves actually wait for their mates.. it's when you add the human component that they don't.
Jaxon mumbled something about having to go. I heard the other end click before he put his phone down. He looked straight at me. "This is why I'm waiting until I'm eighteen to have a girlfriend. Teenagers are sex crazy. And I'm just not ready. Is that really bad?"
I nipped lightly at his cheek and then licked it. As long as I'm the only girlfriend you have, I don't care.
Jaxon stared at his hands. "I feel like... like I'll know when I meet her. The girl that I'm meant to be with. But when? I know I'm young but... life is pretty shitty alone."
He looks at me and then smiles. "Though I guess I'm not alone anymore."
