Nothing Special, Just Me

Chapter 9

*Beth's POV*

The next day I had to go back to school.

I wanted to get a head start on the day, so I got up at 6:00 AM. I got ready and headed downstairs for breakfast. I looked around for my aunt, only to realize that she was still away on her business trip.

I was trying to get a bowl from the top cabinet, but I couldn't reach it.

Then, someone else reached up and grabbed a bowl for me. I turned around, only to come face to face with Zack.

"You should lock your doors," he says.

"You should knock," I reply.

"Where's the fun in that?"

I ignore him and fill my bowl with cereal. I scarf it down in less than five minutes.

"Come on," I order him

I walk out the door before he has the chance to answer. I walk to his car and get in the passenger seat. Zack isn't too far behind and gets in the driver seat.

"Who said I was driving you," he asks.

"I did"

"And when did you say that," he questions me again.

"Just now"

He doesn't even put the keys in the ignition. He just sits, smirking at me.

"Pleeeaaasssssseeeeeeeee," I beg him.

He laughs.

"Fine"

We arrived at school at 7:45 AM, which meant we had 30 minutes to do whatever until 1st period.

I was in a daze, thinking about my classes,  when a boy came up and threw his arms around me.

"WHAT THE FUCK," I screamed.

"Woah. Beth, calm down."

Holy fuck. I'm gonna die. And at school too.
Where's Zack when you need him?

Memories of the last time this happened flashed before my eyes. My breathing started to get heavier. I look around for Zack, hoping he was close.

Great. He's still nowhere to be seen.

"Beth, calm down. Breath."

My vision gets blurry.

"Come on. Let's sit you down."

I grab whoever it is' arm, and they guide me to a bench. We sit down. After a few minutes, my vision and breathing goes back to normal. I look up to find out who it was that helped me.

"JACOB," I yell and throw my arms around his neck.

Jacob was my best friend until I was 12 and he was 13 years old. He moved to France, and I haven't seen him since. Well, until now.

"How did you get back? Are you staying? How long will you be here," I bombard him with questions.

"Hey, breath. Okay, so I got back last week and I'm staying," Jacob says.

"YOU MOVED BACK?!"

"Yes," he replies with excitement.

"OH MY GOD!"

I look around and see people staring. Well, except 2 people-a couple is too "distracted" by making out to even notice me screaming. And the best part? It's Zack and Kaylie.

I can feel myself getting jealous. The funny part is he's not even with me. He's with that hoe.
Without thinking, when Zack looks at me, I pull Jacob into a kiss. He's surprised at first, but then he kisses me back. My arms are still around his neck, and he puts his hands in my waist.

Did I mention that I always had a small crush on Jacob? No? Well, I did and still do. I just happened to use that as an advantage when Zack was around.

When he pulls away, he looks at me, surprise obvious in his eyes.

"Wanna know a secret," Jacob asked.

I nod

"I like you"

"Wanna know a secret," I ask Jacob.

He nods

"I like you too"
