It's been one day since they've left for the mission and so far things are going according to plan. Even though they slept in an inn with only one bed, they didn't seem to get any closer, much to Sakura's disappointment. Both jounin rest at a nearby creek after two days of tiring walking and running. A pink headed kunoichi baths in the luxury of drinking the crystal clear water that was so clean and pure. The other shinobi stands watch over his female companion, on the look out for any potential attackers. Sakura was refilling their water bottles so they are able to replenish their dehydrated bodies and take a drink wherever and whenever the occasion. As Sasuke was standing guard he felt the chakra of another presence. A plan came to mind as to how they were going to deal with the intruders and started taking action.

"Sakura come over here for a second ", he commanded. His sense dominance in his voice made the girl obediently walk towards him.

What could he possibly want when she is busy refilling their supplies as she thought as she approached the Uchiha.

Just as she was an arms length away, Sakura began to speak but Sasuke snatched her around the waist and pulled her close to his chest. She was so close to him that she could hear his steady heartbeat, beating through the many layers of clothes he wore. His scent was fresh with a tinge of wood smoke from the previous night's campfire. Slowly, he turned her towards him so that they were facing each other and leaned in to whisper in her ear,

"Stay still, we have what seems to be a spy of some sort and we can't let them see us. We must stay hidden for now". His husky voice that was on her ear, sent shivers up her spine. He didn't mean too but doing all these things made the pinkette turn a shade that was a pink as her hair, not to mention a racy pulse.

"S-sure", she whispered back.

A few minutes passed and they stayed in the same position. Sakura was treasuring the moments that she would have with Sasuke on this mission. This was definitely one of the moments. While clinging onto Sasuke so that they would not be seen, she wondered why she couldn't sense the presence of another person. Surely her skills would have sharpened after the Fourth Shinobi War. Unless the spy was clever and knew how to conceal their path or chakra, Sakura would have to up her game.

Sasuke's right eye turned a blood red, signifying he had activated his sharingan. His eyes searched the creek and surroundings around him. His eyes flicked to Sakura, the violet purple of the rinnegan and the deep crimson of the sharingan were reflected on the mint green of her eyes. She couldn't read them. It was almost as if a look of guilt, sorrow and regret were rolled into one. Why? She was clueless but decided to focus on what was ahead of her. A thought crossed her mind as she prepared; How was Sasuke so sure that this person in in fact a spy? She wasn't sure herself, she didn't even detect the being. She was going to have to trust Sasuke's instincts. If it's one thing you need during a battle with a partner, it's trust. Hesitating whether or not to trust them, while getting into the heat of battle is far from what should be done.

Sasuke's lips moved in words that she couldn't understand and disappeared in a flash. Sakura cursed herself for not knowing how to lip read.

She decided to take action and  was in mid jump when a vigorous force crashed into her stomach, causing her to fly across air and into the creek. The impact of slamming onto the water almost made her unconscious, but she wasn't ready to go lights out yet. She wasn't as weak as she was when she was just a mere genin. She was sinking down further but instead used her strong legs to propel her to the top. Her hands found the edge of the banks and hoisted herself out of the water. She took in the area around her to see if she could spot the attacker. She saw nothing but the trees. Sasuke. Where was he?

"Sasuke? Where are y-", a katana interrupted her before she could finish. It barely grazed her skin, leaving a cut on her cheek. She held her hand to her cheek to stop the bleeding.

A katana? No it can't be. Sasuke is her comrade, a friend. A lover. Her eyes glazed over the landscape quickly one more time before releasing an almighty punch to the ground. Trees toppled over, the river started running out of the river bed and the ground in big chunks. She panted. The punch didn't even use and ounce of chakra, it was the fury inside that made her use her destructive power to the best of her ability.

She thought she saw the shining blade of a katana in one of the trees that weren't toppled over, but brushed it off. In the corner of her eye, a shadow moved and in a second, Sakura threw kunai and shuriken their way, but as expected, it didn't stop them. She stayed still in that very spot, not moving an inch. She sharpened her instincts and listened for any sound, looked for any movement. She was not going to let them escape.

He was a pickle. A very big one at that. While hiding in the bushes and concealing his chakra with a jutsu his mistresses created, the pink clever kunoichi still knew where the man was hiding. He can't keep hiding forever, not that he intended to of course. He finally gave up and appeared before her. She smirked. Her eyes didn't deceive her and but underestimating ones opponent can be a fatal mistake.

He did a few quick hand signs and murmured words that were not in the native tongue. He put his hand to the ground to complete the summoning jutsu but stopped short to see that it wouldn't be necessary for he saw the raven headed Uchiha turn on the poor, unsuspecting kunoichi.

Hey guys another slow update... T_T. I will try to update as much as I can but I can't make any promises. I am considering of making a sequel f this goes well, which I hope it does. So much homework to do that it limits my precious writing time. May the books you read be good books
