It's been a year, a year since Lucas and me. Today we got a surprise.
Zay Babineaux.
I had to admit he was cute, and he was Lucas's friend.
Something else has happened.
Riley and Lucas.
They kissed.
She was his first date.
I hadn't had mine yet.
"Well lookie lookie here, there's a beauty in the room." He said looking at me.
"Yeah me or you?" I said biting the end of my pen flirtatiously.
"Ohh I'm intrigued." He said winking then turning to Lucas.
"What are you doing here Zay?" He asked.
"I'm here to learn." He said.
"Ohh I like the sarcastic ones." I said to Zay.
"At your service ma'am." He said dipping his hat like Lucas did.
"Take your seat please Zay." Mr Matthews said.
"Yes sir." He said taking the seat next to me.
"So darlin you ever met a country boy?" He asked me. I looked to Lucas who gave a small look that said I-don'-care.
"Yeah once, but like the cliché story he turned his back on me." I said.
"Well me and Lucas here are different." He said looking to his friend.
"You sure of that?" I asked him.
"Yep."
"Then you'd be surprised that the country boy I just told u bout, just so happens to Lucas Friar." I stated.
"Well, you let go of quite a prize." He said before taking my hand and kissing it lightly, making me blush.
"Now missy have you had any experience with anything country?" He asked.
"Yeah the music." I said.
"Ohh you like country music?" He asked.
"Well yeah I mean they sing about stories." I said.
"Who's your favourite?"
"Kelsea Ballerini, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Cam, Reba, some others." I said.
"Well I like a girl who appreciates fine music." He said.
"What you doing at lunch?" I asked.
"Nothing right now."
"Well you are now, I'm showing you around." I said smirking.
"Well ok then."
I had to admit this Zay kid was interesting. Out of nowhere Lucas turned around and said one thing.
"Stop it."
"Stop what Lucas?" I asked.
"Flirting with Zay." He spat.
"Why, I can flirt with whoever I want, not like he'd ever like me any way." I spat back.
"Umm interjection, your actually quite cute." Zay added in.
"Names Lexi cowboy." I said to him.
"Names Zay, city girl." He said back.
