I froze. What was I supposed to do? Run away? I slowly approached the two, the butterflies in my stomach multiplying by ten each time I took a step towards them. I felt so guilty. So, so, so, guilty. I made my move.
"Hey Alea!" I thought I said calmy, but my voice was quivering, maybe the sick have quivery voices?
She turned away from Oliver and seemed rather surprised to see me.
"I thought you were sick! You seem pretty good for sick!" She said surprisingly happily.
"Wait Faye, you're sick?"  Oliver said confusedly.
Silence. Nothing worse then the guilt inside of me. Alea was staring at me. In the worst possible way. She knew it was no coincidence that I was here with her 'future boyfriend' and 'prom king'. Oliver looked disappointed in me. I didn't know what to do, the conflict in my brain was only building up. I turned around and ran. Maybe back to the seats. Maybe to the locker room.
"Faye wait!" Oliver yelled over the crowd of people. Too late. I was running like a zebra being chased by a lion.

I was running to the locker room. Where my team would accept me. Luckily, all of our uniforms and equipment were in the changing rooms, we were only responsible for our training equipment. As I made my way down a set of stairs to the changing room, I prepared my excuse for being late. I showed my school pass and ran through the doors. My 'stall' was in the lefthand corner from the entrance, and all of my equipment was there, complete with my jersey hanging from the rack. I quickly changed, grabbed a water bottle, laced up my shoes and sprinted onto the court. As soon as I was in sight, the whole crowd went mad. I couldn't help but smile and wave. The announcer of the game was also shocked:
"It seems that captain of the team, Faye Lancaster, #20, has made an appearance on the court tonight! Let's give her some courage!"
Once again, the crowd went wild. The smile on my face was getting bigger and bigger. Who cares about Alea and Oliver. I had a game to win.

My coach was probably the maddest of everyone. In fact, the only one. I told her that my car had broken down and that I had felt sick but was better and decide to drive myself. Oops. She was a bit skeptical but actually took it. I was put in the second I was there and led the team to victory. It was an intense game, but we managed to scrape by, only by two baskets, but it was enough to win. In case you were wondering, I shot a three and it swooshed, making us take the lead. I hope Oliver saw me. I hope he was cheering for me. As I unlaced my shoes and talked with the team, I thought about the game tomorrow morning, and if Oliver would show up. I finished changing and said see you soon to my team. As I walked into the parking lot, I realized I didn't have a ride home. I checked my phone, to see my lock screen flooded with messages. Some from Alea, some from Oliver. Oh brother. I pulled out my phone and called my dad to pick me up. It wasn't that far from the house. The adrenaline was starting to settle and I was realizing how badly the night has gone. Had I lost two friends? A boyfriend? I opened my messages from Alea first. She can be super duper mean at times. I hope that she didn't think I was 'stealing her man'. The messages went as stated:
Really Faye?? Sick?? So you could steal my man????
I knew she would say that.
Overlooking the part where you were trying to steal my boyfriend, why didn't you just tell me that you had something together?! BTW nice tickets, they were super close.
I sighed. There goes my social life.
I couldn't be bothered to open Oliver's texts, I had enough stuff to deal with. I sat on the curb and waited for my dad. I just stared into the distance waiting for him. When he pulled up, I flunked into the front seat defeated.
"How was the game sweetheart? How was your da-"
"It was fine." I cut him off and stared out the window.
Enough was enough. I watched the people out the window on the way back, wishing that one of them would help me.
