"Y/N! Y/N!" You hear king Caspian shouting. You set down the bow you're fiddling with and run to the direction of your friend's voice. He must have just returned from one of his sailing trips
and now he's here, back in Telemar.
You run across the palace grounds, the silk of your dress's skirt brushing against the ground. Once you see Caspian on the palace steps, surrounded by four strangers, you slow to a stop and collect yourself. You walk over to him.
"Caspian." You breathe. Everyone looks at you.
"Oh, Y/N!" Caspian exclaims, rushing over to you and pulling you into his arms. He gives you a quick hug and then moves away, sweeping his hands in the direction of the strangers. "These are the Pevensies." Caspian explains.
Your jaw drops. "The Pevensies?" You ask.
Caspian nods, proud. "B-but how?" You ask. You walk up to Susan, Peter, Edmund, and Lucy. "I've heard countless of stories of your heroics. But I've, also, heard that you weren't allowed to come to Narnia again." You say.
"We don't know how it happened. One moment we were all together and the next we were here." Peter says.
"Aslan told us we couldn't return, but I think he wants us back now. For some reason." Lucy adds.
You smile. "Well, I'm glad that you're here. I've always wanted to meet you in person, and now you're here." You tell them.
"What's your name?" Edmund asks. For the first time, you meet his eyes, and you're surprised at his good looks.
"I'm Y/N." You answer. "A Telemarine woman and a friend of Caspian." You say, glancing at your friend who smiles at you.
Lucy and Susan reach out to grab your hands. "Any friend of Caspian is a friend of ours." Susan says. You smile at them.
"Come, let's get you settled." Caspian says to the Pevensies. Three Pevensies walk next to Caspian, while Edmund lingers more close to you. He shyly smiles at you and you return the smile, your face feeling hot.

---

You leave your room, a week after the Pevensies' arrival. You almost run into Edmund who's walking past your room.
"Oh!" You gasp. "I'm sorry." You wince.
"It's all right, Y/N." Edmund says, smiling at you. Out of all the Pevensie siblings, you've grown closest to Edmund over the past week.
"Actually, I'm glad I ran into you. I'm afraid I'm a bit turned around here." He explains.
"Where are you trying to get to?" You ask.
Edmund shrugs. "Anywhere, really. I want to do something." He answers.
"Well, I can show you to the armory." You suggest.
Edmund brightens. "Really? That'd be amazing." He says.
"Come, follow me." You say, leading him onward. Edmund falls in step with you.
"So, Y/N, what're you living in Caspian's palace for?" He asks. Then he grimaces. "Sorry, that sounded so noisy." He says.
You laugh and shake your head. "It's fine." You reply. You take a deep breath and let it out. "Caspian took me into his home after my parents were killed. We've been really close ever since. He's like a brother to me." You say.
"And what do you usually do on a regular daily basis?" Edmund asks.
"Mostly practice sword fighting or archery. It keeps me busy and time passes quickly." You answer.
"No suitors than?" He inquires curiously.
You throw him a disbelieving look and scoff. "Yeah, I don't think so." You suck in a sharp breath.
"What, Y/N? I'm being serious. I thought there'd be a whole line of suitors." Edmund says.
"I've had about one in the past five year and then he disappeared. Poof! Never saw him again." You say. You let out a laugh and sigh. "I guess it just wasn't meant to be." You add.
"Well, don't worry, Y/N. A man will come around and it will make you realize you why you didn't have a suitor for a while." Edmund says.
You sneak a peek at Edmund, a small smile on your lips. "I believe so, Edmund. I believe so." You reply, softly.

---

Edmund stares in awe at Caspian's armory. "I don't know what to say..." He breathes.
You rip a sword off the wall and hand it to Edmund, an eyebrow perched high on your forehead. You grin at him. "Wanna practice sword fighting?" You ask.
He grins back at you and takes the sword. You grab your sword off the weapon wall and Edmund follows you outside.
"I'd imagine you're quite good at this, Y/N, so you're going to have to forgive me if I'm not as good as you." Edmund admits.
You laugh and turn to look at him. "Mm, I don't know, Edmund. There's been heroic stories of you defeating the White Witch's armies." You say.
"Let's just hope no one exaggerated those stories." He mutters, before flashing you a smile. You shyly look away. "Okay, you ready?" Edmund asks.
You nod and look up at him, raising your sword. Edmund and you fight intensely for a while, his skill matching your own; if not, even better.
Edmund trips you and you fall on to your back, your sword landing with a thud beside you. You breathe heavily and stare up at him as he grins down at you, breathless.
"Not bad, Edmund." You wheeze, laughing.
Edmund squints in the sun and smiles flirtatiously. "I know." He replies.
Before he can realize what you're doing, you swoop your legs under his and trip him. He falls on to his back beside you, laughing.
     "Hey!" He exclaims.
You poke his ribs repeatedly, grinning. "That's payback." You reply. Edmund grabs your hands to stop you from poking him as you both laugh. He tightly encloses your hands with his and pulls them to his chest.
You're now only a few mere inches from Edmund, facing him. His and yours laughing fades, as does your grins, as you stare at each other. Edmund's eyes search yours and your heart pounds quickly.
His mouth opens as if he wants to say something but then thinks better of it. He moves his one hand to lightly caress your cheek, his gaze flicking to your lips and then back up to your eyes.
"Y/N... I...." Edmund whispers. He blinks and abruptly pulls away from you. "I need to go." He says hurriedly, standing up and running off. You watch him leave, your jaw agape, your heart breaking a little.

---

That night you lean against the balcony's ledge, your mind solely on Edmund. You bow your head and sigh, your heart hurting. You really, really like Edmund a lot. You've never felt this way towards any man before. And he basically rebuffed you. You saw something spark in his eyes this afternoon. And with a blink it was gone, along with Edmund.
You grumble and turn around, just as the balcony doors open and in walks Edmund. You both pull up straight, staring at each other. You're the first to drop your head and mumble a greeting, before starting to walk past him.
"Y/N, wait." Edmund says, grabbing your arm and stopping you. You look up at him, the moon shining on half of his face. "I need to talk to you." He says softly.
"Okay." You tell him. His hand slides down your arm and then he entwines his fingers with yours. Edmund gently pulls you to the ledge of the balcony and then grabs your other hand with his, facing you. You're both silent for a long minute.
"Y/N, I-I..." He stammers. Your head lowers as you know he's about to reject. "I love you." Edmund states suddenly.
Your head snaps up and you stare at him, your eyes wide. "What?" You say.
He nods and smiles a little. "I love you." He says, relief resonating in his tone. He removes his hands from yours and cradles your face. He smiles widely now. "I am in love with you." He states.
"Oh, Edmund." You whisper, relief washing over you. Tears burn your eyes and you blink, smiling. "I'm in love with you, too." You admit.
Edmund lets out a breath and suddenly moves closer, kissing you firmly on the mouth. You wrap your arms around him and kiss him back. When he pulls back, he smiles at you and kisses your forehead. Edmund pulls you against his chest and holds you tightly. You close your eyes and smile peacefully as he trails small circles around your back.
[THE END] I hope you liked it!
