RECAP: “I…I wsajhahuidfjkiwleyou.” He mumbled hurriedly. “…..What?” I ask really confused with what he said. “Iwashiredtokillyou.” He says, mumbling again and still focused on the ground. “Good grief. Just tell me why you were following me!” I say getting really annoyed. He lifts his head and looks me dead in the eye, never letting anything tear his gaze from mine. “I was hired to kill you.” He says, softly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

My mouth dropped open. “Wait. What?” I don’t think I was comprehending what he was saying. “I was hired to kill you.” He repeats, still holding my gaze. Then a thought crossed my mind. “Then why am I not dead yet?” I ask. I was starting to shake a little. Who would want me dead? And why? He smiles, “Because you’re too pretty to die.” I smiled at his words. “Wait.” I stop myself short, “Are you flirting with me when you’re about to kill me?” I asked, confused beyond my belief. “No. I’m not going to kill you…at least, not for real.” He says. I must look really confused (which I am), because he lightly laughs and begins to explain what he said.

“I’m an assassin.” He said, so non-chalantly. “ I got another target today. It was you. When I saw you in person, I knew I couldn’t just kill you in cold blood. So I followed you to your house. After you went in, I just stood out there debating whether or not to go in and kill you. I must have stood there for close to twenty minutes debating, and watching you in our room.” Yeah…that was a little creepy. I don’t think you’re supposed to admit that you watch someone… “I decided not to kill you and just face the consequences from my boss. When I realize you’re following me. So I turn down this alley and wait for you to come and then pull you in, too.” I give him another look, because that explained nothing of how he was going to fake kill me.

He continues, “But the people I work for are going to be coming checking on me to make sure I completed the job. So all I have to do is shoot you and then when they come they will automatically assume that you are dead. It offends an assassin when you check their targets pulse. Then they will pay me and an ambulance will be on its way to save you.” My eyes were as big as saucers. “And all you’ll have to do is shoot me?!” I whisper shout at him. I don’t think he understands that I’ve never been shot before. In fact, I don’t plan on getting shot anytime soon. Even if it is from this really cute guy…Wait. Did I just say cute? He wants to shoot me and I think he’s cute?! Good grief, who am I gonna like next? A terrorist? I laugh in my head at my strange conversations, and zone back in as he begins to speak.

“I know, I know. It sounds scary but it’s not. It’s going to hurt like hell, but you just have to sit there and not move. And since I’m a trained assassin, I’ll know where to shoot you so that you won’t die.” He says trying to calm me down. I take a deep breath and weigh my options. HA! What options? It’s either take a bullet…..or die. I think to myself. Since there aren’t many options to weigh, it doesn’t take long to reach my decision.

“Ok, let’s just get it over with.” I say weakly.  “Ok. Just breathe. It’ll be over before you know it.” He says, soothingly. I don’t know why-BAM! My thoughts were interrupted as I collapse, but before I can even hit the ground, I feel strong arms around me. I look up to see him.  He has a worried look in his eyes as he lowers me to the ground, gently. “You’re gonna get dizzy, so just close your eyes, Daisy. Just close your eyes.” His voice is just above a whisper and so gentle.

He kisses my forehead before he gets up and takes out his phone. As he turns around to make the call, I see something that intrigues me. Looking through his shirt, and covering his whole back, is a tree. A weeping willow, to be exact. My eyes start to feel heavy, as I begin to get dizzy. I close my eyes and start to drift into the darkness. Wait. He knew my name. I should really find out what his name is. I mean he did just shoot me and he is really cute…Wait. He shot me. He just freakin shot me! I think to myself. But before I drifted off completely, the image of his tattoo found its way back into my mind. And through ALL of the thoughts and feelings going on inside my head, the only one I can focus on is his tattoo. His weeping willow…
