RECAP:
“You saved my life, Niall.” I say, quietly. “Maybe one day I’ll return the favor.” I whisper, as I slowly feel myself drift back to sleep. “You already did.” I hear him whisper in my ear, and it immediately makes me remember the image of his tattoo. His weeping willow. I hear his words over and over in my head as the image gets burned into my brain and I fall back into the welcoming darkness.
***3 Years Later***
I walk into the only Starbucks in town. I smile at the barista at the counter. “A Grande mocha cookie crumble with soy, please.” I say, giving her my regular order. “Sure thing. That’ll be $4.67.” “Ok, thank you.” I said, handing her the money. I walked over to the drink counter and waited to pick up my delicious chocolaty frappuccino. “Grande mocha cookie crumble with soy.” Says the lady that just made my drink. “Yes. Thank you.” I say, grabbing my drink and walking over to get a straw. I hear the door to Starbucks open as I grab my straw.
I unwrap it and put it in my drink. I take the long awaited sip of my drink. I never take any food or drinks for granted, since it took me about two months to be able to eat and drink everything normally. I shudder at the distant memory. “I’ll have a Grande Earl Grey Brewed Tea.” I stopped in my tracks. That voice. That’s a voice I haven’t heard in three years, but I still know it. His words have been burned into my brain. I practically hear him say it in my sleep.
I turn around. I see a man wearing skinny jeans with white converse and a red polo. I can tell it’s him. He’s hardly changed. I quickly duck into the bathroom before he sees me. I haven’t seen him, in person, in three years. I had kept up with him though. I suddenly realized how different both of our lives had become. He had quit being an assassin and had tried out for the X-Factor a year after…the incident. He was now in a world-famous boy band. They were good too. While I was here following in his old footsteps.
I had joined T.A.A. (The Assassins Academy) after I saw Niall try out for the X-Factor. I had trained for 6-months and quickly became one of the best in the Academy. I had surpassed many of the people who had been there longer than I had. I was soon thrown out to complete many missions. I started to work my way to the top and was now working some of the highest missions there were. I was suddenly snapped out of my thoughts by a loud ringing noise in my ears.
I realized I was locked in the Starbucks bathroom, leaning up against the door, drinking my drink, and my phone was ringing. Wait. My phone? Shit my phone! I rushed to get it out of my pocket. I looked at the blinking caller ID and answered it quickly. “M.” I said, waiting for my assignment. “Good morning M. You have a new target.” Said the deep voice on the other side of the phone, “It’s a band. One Direction.”
