It’s in a rainy day in the small town of Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Mackenzie and Stevie are sitting on the porch watching the rain fall from the sky. “I love rain,” Stevie said “But it rains too often here.” “Yes,” Mackenzie replied “It rains too much.” “Mackenzie, Stevie, girls come in the house, it’s cold.” Their mother Hannah-Mae yelled out the window concerned. “Okay,” the girls said at once. They ran inside giggling. “You guys hungry?” Hannah-Mae. “Yes,” They said again. “What would you like?” She continued. “I want pancakes!” Stevie said. “I want a sandwich!” Mackenzie said. “If you guys ate the same things no one would be able to tell you guys apart!” Their mom smiled. “We’re not that alike.” Stevie said coldly. “We may be twins but we are different.” Mackenzie said.
“Don’t you girls sass me.” their mom said. They both looked down. “Sorry, mother.” they both said. “Now,” she said grinning “How about I make your food?” They ran up to their room and plopped on the beds. “I invited Stacia to come over.” Stevie said. “Cool I’m having Michael come over.” Mackenzie replied with no interest. Stevie picked up her phone. “Wow,” Stevie said “It’s 3 o’clock and it’s getting dark.” “Oh well,” Mackenzie said flatly “Minnesota has unpredictable weather.” “Why do you have to be so mean?” Stevie bursted “You show no feeling to me, and I am practically the other part of you.” “No,” Mackenzie snapped at her “I am a full person, you are your own person. We may be twins but I am myself, and you are yourself.”
Stevie looked down in disappointment. “I just want to be close to my sister.” Stevie said leaving the room. “Why am I so mean?” Mackenzie asked herself sadly.
Moments later there is a knock on the front door. Hannah-Mae answers it. “Hello, Anastacia,” she greeted her nicely “Is Stevie expecting you?” “Yes,” Stacia said “She told you I’m staying the night, right?” “No, she didn’t.” She frowned “But if it’s because of the problems you have at home feel free to come over whenever.” “Thank you very much Hannah-Mae,” Stacia said appreciatively “Stevie is the only friend I truly trust.” Then Stacia was on her way upstairs.
“Stevie?” She yelled. Stevie answered a faint reply from the bathroom. She walked in and shut the door behind her. “What’s wrong?” She frowned. Stevie looked at her and lied “Nothing.” “Stevie,” Stacia said “I know when you’re lying, if you weren’t so close with Mackenzie, I would say I know you better than anyone.” “Then you obviously don’t know me at all.” Stevie said flatly. “I’m not very close with Mackenzie, we don’t even have the same type of understanding.” “Did you guys have a fight?” Stacia asked. “Yes,” Stevie said “She doesn’t understand how to be nice, let alone be my closest friend. We may be sister’s, maybe even twins, but we are nothing alike.” “Okay,” Stacia said evilly “Looks like I’m going to have to cheer you up!”
They listened to music blasting, in Stevie and Mackenzie’s room. Then Mackenzie and Michael walked in. “What are you losers up too?” Mackenzie teased. Stevie just crossed her arms across her chest. “Stevie…” She said. “I’m sorry about earlier.” “What ever,” Stevie replied “We’re fine, but now. It’s dance party time.” They danced for the next 3 hours. “Guys, do you know what time it is?” Hannah-Mae yelled “It’s 3 a.m. turn that music off!” They turned it off and started watching movies on FX on their TV because they were not tired. They all laid on the floor talking quietly. The next day they all slept in.
