Today's date was December 1st, 2015. A good few months had passed and I was getting closer to Maybelline. Our winter formal was coming up, (despite lack of snow which I was quite thankful for) and I was trying to ask her to be my date.
"Dude, if you want to take her just ask. Before someone else does it first." Damien scolded me. I guess I was starting to drive everyone crazy from my constant 'talk with no action' to follow through. "She's a pretty hot chick. I'm fairly certain you aren't the only one minding to take her."
"For some reason it isn't that simple Damien. I want to ask her, I really really want to ask her. But whenever I go up to her and we start talking I just, it's like I forget. Or it just never comes up. I don't want to randomly blurt it out, I want it to be a nice and memorable way."
"You're asking her to winter formal Levi. Not proposing." Marcus joked, which earned him a high five of agreement from his brother.  I rolled my eyes, they didn't get it. Marcus could get any girl he wanted, he could sweet talk his way into her heart and her pants in, at most, ten minutes. Damien had girls coming onto him but shot them down, he didn't want to start dating until he had completely transitioned. Toby had zero interest in dating so he wouldn't understand my situation with Maybelline, and I'm pretty sure Joshua still had that long distance relationship going for him so again, no help there since he's never had to flirt and talk with a girl face to face because he had the protection of a computer screen. Now I was tired of being teased so I decided to turn the conversation away from me and my issues.
"What about you and that French girl Josh? What was her name..Sarah? Zoe?" I honestly couldn't remember her name, Joshua didn't talk about her much. It was a very private part of his life.
"Emilie. And we are still dating, a full year actually this month." He earned himself a little applause from us. "So I'm also considering having her come here and being my date to winter formal." I looked at Josh with wide eyes, I never realized how serious he was about this girl. "Do you think it'll work? Her being able to come here I mean." I asked, taking a chip from Marcus and popping it in my mouth before he could snatch it back from me.
"My parents are fine with it, and I even worked up the nerve to ask her dad and once he was able to talk things through with my parents he was cool with it too. Basically he doesn't want me sending her back home pregnant." He took a drink of chocolate milk. "But I'm pretty sure if I can talk to the French ex-military father of my girlfriend, you" He pointed directly to me. "Can work up the nerve to ask Maybelline to be your date to winter formal."

Biology finally happened after lunch. I had been thinking a lot on what Josh and the guys had said and decided I would just ask her, worst thing that can happen is she says no. 'Isn't that what we don't want to happen?'
"Hey Levi!" Maybelline's voice interrupted my thoughts, I turned around to see her take the seat beside me. "Hey" I grinned, feeling my mood brighten with her around. "So what's new?" I asked further, gathering the nerve to ask her to formal.
"There's nothing overly new, Amy's going absolutely crazy over this winter formal though." She spoke as she organized her books and pencils, I had her system pretty much down pat now. Her textbook would be placed slightly to her left on an angle so she could read, her notebook laid out in front of her with her pens at the top of the book and pencils on the right side. I thought it was kind of cute how organized she was.
"Are you not?" I asked. Not to be stereotypical but I had always assumed dances and formal things were a girl's dream. Maybelline just shrugged, "Normally I would be but I only just arrived. I don't really know many people who are going to be there aside from Amy and Megan and Chelsea" I bit my tongue to stifle a chuckle, the idea of those three was very comedic. Basically, they thought they were the shit and would always be best friends, when in all reality they would turn on each other without a second thought just for a good piece of gossip. "Which I guess explains why they have me set up to go with this Gerome guy." Then I didn't have to hold back laughter, my sinking heart pushed it all the way back to some dark place.
"You're going with Gerome Nichols?" I asked, my voice had gone a little soft but right now I was too crushed to fix it.
"Yeah I guess so. I said yes just so she'd stop being worried about me going alone." Then our conversation was cut off when our teacher came in.
"Alright class, prepare yourselves. I've brought in a pop quiz to see how much of the circulatory system you guys know. Which should be a lot since we've been studying it the past few classes." He started taking up sheets and handing them out. Maybelline got to work on it right away, meanwhile I couldn't concentrate. I wrote down the answers to some basic things that everyone knew, but I wasn't really reading what I saw or even thinking about what I wrote. For all I know I could've said the circulatory system had to deal with fire trucks and guns.
I finished the quiz in about fifteen minutes. I took up the sheet and handed it in, then turned around and left the class.
