Frank’s P.O.V.
I lay on the soft, comfortable bed in the little guest room, reading a horror book that I had taken from Gerard’s massive bookshelf in the living room.
I tell you, that bookshelf of his has every horror and thriller book known to man.
Gerard loved to read. I’d always find him in his secluded little art room, getting lost in a good book.
In the past month that I’ve been staying with him, I discovered that he was quite philosophical.
He was into poems, history, music, but most of all, art.
Gerard loved nothing more than his precious art.
After all, he was an artist himself. Selling paintings, being hired to do portraits…not a bad job.
Admittedly, I admired him a lot. He was intelligent and strong-willed, something that I respected about him.
I glanced over at the wall clock.
10 PM.
I put the book down on the nightstand next to me, and got under the covers.
I switched off the lamp, reducing the room to complete darkness, except for the moonlight that shone through the slightly parted curtains.
I closed my eyes and drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Gerard’s P.O.V.
I slowly felt myself start to awaken.
I reluctantly opened my tired eyes and noticed the TV on the wall opposite my bed was turned on.
I must have fallen asleep while watching something.
As I sat up in bed, I froze in place.
In a matter of seconds, the room had gone cold.
I slid out of bed and stood up, scanning the room.
I held my breath in fear as the room temperature began to drop even lower.
Slowly, I began to walk over to the door.
I didn’t like this one bit.
I grasped the freezing cold door knob and began to twist it, when all of a sudden I heard a disembodied whisper come from behind me.
“Kill him.”
I spun around and felt my heart start to race.
A tall, see-through man stood by the window.
My jaw dropped when I noticed the faded outline of a set of wings behind him.
He was wearing a long coat and a monocle, and his face looked as if it was sunken in.
But I realized he was no man.
He appeared to be some kind of ghost-like fallen angel.
I watched in panic as he pulled out a watch attached to a chain from his coat pocket and began to swing it back and forth very slowly.
“Time’s running out.” He croaked.
I tried to form words to speak but nothing came out.
As the man began to fade away, the chill of the room disappeared with him, leaving me in the most fearful, loudest, silence.
