Molly's POV
I had another container of cake tucked in my purse as I walked in the hospital. Beau had told me that he had ate all of the other one, so I figured I'd surprise him with some more.
Walking into his room, he was scrolling through his phone. I knocked on the door a couple times, and he looked up and smiled at me. He put his phone on the side of his bed and watched me sit down and pull out the other container of cake. His eyes lit up like Christmas lights, beautiful, green Christmas lights.
Speaking of Christmas, that was coming up soon. 2 weeks I believe.
"Hey there, Beau. How are you feeling?" I smiled at him, happy that I was finally feeling comfortable with him.
"Hey Wildflower." He didn't answer my question, but he smiled, which I mirrored.
"Wildflower?" I asked.
"Yeah, like the ones you gave me." He pointed to the vase full of wildflowers, that all still looked healthy and alive. "You're my Kentucky Wildflower."
I blushed, thinking that was the cutest thing anyone had ever told me. I know I was turning red, though. My cheeks burned, as I smiled. I could tell by the look on his face.
"That's so cute! How did you think of that?!" I was so impressed.
His eyes wandered for a little bit before settling on mine. "Well I figured Wildfire would be too emotional considering what just occurred."
I laughed again, but in that awkward, funny way. He really was hilarious.
"Haha, that's almost mean," I continued.
"Can we start that 20 questions game again? I thought of a few more questions I'd like to ask."
His sudden request surprised me, but I went along with it.
"Alright, shoot." He said. I guess he wanted me to go first.
"What's your favorite animal?" I asked, trying to think of something cute and light for the first question.
He thought about it for a second. "Penguin, definitely."
"Why a penguin?" I grinned at his answer. I was expecting to hear him say something like a lion or a tiger, because of how manly they are and how he is. His answer surprised me.
"They're adorable!" He seemed excited to answer the question. "And did you know that they propose to each other?"
I looked at him like he was fucking insane. "You're lying."
"No I swear!" His green eyes got really big. Mine did too, and I could feel the skin stretching on my face. "They give a pebble to their mate like a man gives a woman a ring. It means he wants to be life long partners together."
I began listening intently. I had never heard of penguins doing stuff like that, but it was so cute! I could hardly believe my ears.
"That's too weird," I replied.
He smiled, "I thought so too."
He waited a couple of seconds before starting with his question. "Why were you making tacos for the day your stove caught fire?"
I could feel my eyes getting wider when he asked me. I bit my lip, feeling extra cautious about how I was going to word my next sentence. "The truth, or a lie?" I asked myself.
"I was making them for someone," I answered meekly.
He looked curious, "for who? Jacob?"
I smiled a little bit, still deciding if I was going to admit the real reason or go along with what he said. "No, not Jacob."
