Molly POV
I stepped out of my door, with scissors and a ribbon in hand. The park wasn't far away, and there were plenty of flower beds between here and there anyways. I found one full of purple wildflowers, and I picked some, arranging them so the bloom stuck out.
At the park I found orange day lillies, that went beautifully with the color of the other flowers. I cut them gently, and placed them with the wildflowers, thinking of Beau.
I picked a green ribbon, just because it reminded me of his eyes. Those emerald eyes...I was so confused though.I really liked Beau, but all this going back and forth was really beginning to bother me. A little stability was all I really wanted.
I sat on a swing and placed the flowers on my lap, on top of the ribbon. I tied it gently around the stems, ending with a bow. Beau...
I held the flowers by my side as I walked towards the Brooks residence, knocking on the door. Luke answered. I smiled at him, weakly. He mirrored a similar smile.
"Those for Beau?" He asked half heartedly.
"Yeah," I answered. "I figured the other bouquet would be dying by now."
,"I have no clue if it is. Beau keeps it in his room so I rarely see it. That was nice of you though."
He refused to look me directly in the eyes. I looked longingly at him, feeling awful that I couldn't return his feelings.
"Look Luke, I'm so sorry this had to happen..." I apologized desperately trying to meet his eyes. He looked up, catching interest in what I had to say.
"It's whatever..." He responded, walking away from the door.
I grabbed his arm and pulled him to look back at me. "No it's not. But Luke, you have to realize...You saved me several nights ago just as much as Beau saved me from the fire."
He looked puzzled. "You're just trying to make me feel better," and he tugged away from my grip. I ran in the door, getting infront of him as he walked into his house, and stopped him.
"It's true. I felt so low that night, and you reaching out to me and staying with me was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It was incredible of you to do that." I said this softly, trying to convey as much feeling as I could.
He looked down, but had a smile on his face. "Thanks, Molly. I mean it."
I shared his smile, feeling that we were now at a mutual understanding. Luke was really a wonderful person, and I hated it that I couldn't make him feel the way he wanted, but I had someone else waiting for me in that house.
I left the living room and walked to the open room, where Beau laid facedown in his pillow, shirtless, and half covered in blanket.
His room was fairly basic, with a single bed, a bedside stand next to it, and a desk that faced the wall where the door was. There were several posters around the wall, and a small pile of dirty clothes at the foot of his bed. Random pairs of vans scattered the floor, and sitting on the bedside table, were a buoqet of dried wildflowers.
Beau was still sleeping. I could tell by his steady breathing. His chest rose and fell rhythmically, and I stood there, smiling at how peaceful he looked. At that moment, I realized the temptation to kiss someone in their sleep. Their innocence in the moment is just too endearing.
I laid the bouquet on his desk and walked over to Beau, placing my hand on his shoulder.
"Mom, leave me the hell alone!" he commanded, muffled my his mouth being on the pillow. I laughed, and he immediately startled, covering himself in the blanket. "What are you doing?! I sleep in the nude!"
