It's the year 1864 and war still never ended in Great Britain. The sky has turned brown and the air is so hard to breathe. I own a small electronic shop on the corner of Manchester. Kids would come by after school to look at what I have made for the day. I usually fixed clocks for a living and nothing else. My father gave me the shop right before he passed away. My father told me that my name was Victor and I will always be his son no matter where I came from.

I was never allowed out in the rain and I know why, its because it hurts my heart. I've been told by mothers that I have no feelings and I never will. They thought I was a horrible friend for their children because I am a robot, built by my father because he was lonely. But I guess now I am lonely so I needed a friend.

I was working on a watch that a young man had brought in with his son next to him. His son, Max, couldn't stop starring at me. It has seem that I have sparked a little interest in the boy. The next day Max came back to the shop without his father and asked, "Why do you fix clocks?" and I just laughed at the question and answered with, "Because it was my father's shop and now I take care of it." But I could tell that Max had another question on his mind. So I asked him, "What did you really want to ask me Max?" Max looked confused and then told me his question. He asked me, "Are you a robot or a man?" I looked at him shocked by the sudden question and tried to find an answer which was, "I am a robot but also a man with no friends." I wasn't expecting him to respond so quickly. "Victor, i'll be your friend, and you can be mine. And Victor, your not a robot or a man in my eyes but your simply just Victor.", that was what Max had told me and at that moment I felt small hands rap around my torso. I don't know what this warm feeling I felt in my heart was but told Max, "Alright Max, I won't be a robot, but instead i'll be your ROBOT.
