S A M
"Where are you, Michael?" I looked around me, he no longer in sight. My legs, and feet buried beneath piles of the chilling snow, trotting along. I cupped a ball of the snow in my cold, shivering hands, scanning my surroundings a bit more. "Come on out... I don't bite."
Still just silence from his part. If I knew him well enough by now, he was planning something. Something memorable. Something spiteful. Something prank worthy.
"Do I need to bribe you to come out?" I held in a laugh, as it kept concealed in my throat. I wanted to release it so badly. "Tell you I'll give you something special?"
Still silent, and awfully shocking. Even that won't lure him out. I don't know what else will. That usually would, but in this case it didn't. He was guaranteed to do something surprising. It was clear now.
"You're hiding, aren't you?" I hear something crunch. Probably the snow, but I couldn't be sure if it was me, or him. Seemed fairly close. He couldn't be far, nor off of this property. "Yup. You're definitely hiding."
An urge to explore, and search for him, I had made my way forward. God, the snow really holds you down. The winter breeze only making it 'better'.
It's only a foot, and a few inches but damn. It could be pretty difficult. It's pretty thick, but always just disappears every step I take, pushing into another direction.
I reach the left corner of the house, as my hand comes against the structure. My body leans in the left direction, my eyes now able to view the entire area. But still, unfortunately no sign of Mike.
I advance forward, catching a glimpse of what was all around me. Everywhere I looked, he wasn't there. Felt like I had searched everywhere by now, and not one single sign.
I stand still in defeat, as I end my search. "Okay, Mike. I'm done. Come get me. I have nothing." I drop the ball of snow, as it completely gashed into the rest of the white stuff, separating as if it was never even there.
"I'm not letting you go that easily," there was his voice. Barging in on the brief silence, a smile spread across his face, a snowball in his hand, tossing it up to himself. "Put your hands where I can see 'em. I've got you surrounded."
I whip my head around to face him. He was behind me. "Oh yeah?" I raised my hands up, the corners of my lips rising with pure bliss fulfilling me. "I won't retaliate. Go ahead. Punish me. Do what you want to me. I surrender."
"Seriously?" He looked at me in dismay. "I come out of the darkness, and you give up. Just like that."
I nod. "Pretty much, yeah." He laughed, enthused.
He approaches me, speechless beyond that point. He held up his snowball, and raises it above my head. He squeezes it, as the snow breaks apart, and falls in small flurries of snowflakes. It gave me my chance to go.
I duck down, hopping to the side, reaching down for snow, and making it into a ball. His eyes widen with shock, following my movement. Yes, bits of it came above my head. But, I'm still going. That doesn't lead to him winning. Not yet.
I stuck out my tongue childishly. "Haha, you thought wrong!" I laughed hysterically, purely amused. He was just too much fun to play around with. It could be a bad thing, but I could care less if it was. He's my boyfriend. That's what they're for.
"You slick motherfucker." He taunted me, chuckling. Wow. He wants to get explicit here.
"Hey," I pointed my index finger to him, a frown pursing my lips. "You shouldn't call your girlfriend that, but! If you do. I'm a smart motherfucker."
