I choked up, directing my focus away from her to Sam. I could feel her smirking. Eager. With full power over me. I could barely even say one word.

"Say it, Mike." Her hand cupped my chin, forcing my eyes to fall upon hers. "Yes or no. It's so easy." She emphasized easy, which led a shiver to crawl up my spine. I bit my lip, forcing myself to say nothing but. . .

"Yes."

Ashley's green eyes widened, her head drawn back. Her hand pulled away from my face.

"Seriously?"

Sam nodded. "Yes. Really." She spat out, reaching for my hand beneath the table nervously.

"Why didn't you tell us?"

"We didn't want anyone to know." I said, gripping onto her shaky hand. Her fingers entwining slowly with mine. Our palms pressed tightly together. I pulled her hand up onto the table, putting it into the view of Ashley and Chris.

"Even your closest friends. . ."

"That wasn't a risk we were willing to take." Sam said regretfully, anxiety writ on her face. I felt bad for her. Should I have said no? What would be different. . .

"It won't matter. . ." Ashley sighed, her face flushing serious. It worried me. . . Sam too. "What was on the news that day. . . Almost everyone saw it. . . Or at least heard about it."

Sam eyes bugged out. I could hear her heartbeat. As well as her hearing mine. I messed around with my hair with worry.

Sam gulped. "Everyone?"

Ashley nodded. "Unfortunately, yes. . ."

Chris hopped in. "It was the word of the school. . . Everyone talked about it. . ."

"A lot of people think that you're dating currently. . . Even some teachers. . ." Ashley had a face of pure sympathy. She treated the whole 'more than friends' thing a little incorrectly. Taking it a little far in my opinion.

Sam bit down on her lip, squeezing my hand tighter. "Fuck keeping a secret. The whole world probably knows. . ."

"I wish I could say they didn't." I sighed, clearing my throat.

She grabbed her cup, and took another long, tasteful sip somberly. Her head slumped down. Captured in pure anxiety.

"What are they gonna say?" She blurted out. "To us? About. . . Us. . ."

"Forget about what they're gonna say. . ." My eyebrows furrowed, and a small smile tugged at my lips. A swirl of emotions within me. "I'm here for you."

Her lips stretched. "I'm here for you, too."

I gaze into her eyes, as she gazed back into mine. I just get so lost. . . To the point I forget where I am.

I pecked her lips softly, taking hold of her other hand. Rubbing it gently with my thumb.

"I love you." She said, her lips smiling against mine.

"I love you, too".

It led us into a moment of silence after her and I pull away. Ashley's and Chris' eyes locking on us.

"You guys are too cute." Ashley smiled, fondness coating her voice.

Yeah. We're too cute.
